worlds fastest electric car? with a range of 25 miles to the charge? :P who cares I still want one lol.

To make a claim like that, they must have discovered something about batteries.
July 15, 2008 7:15 pm
^ or they finally made a breakthrough with the Superconducting coils that I am talking about... basically with 0 resistance you can run a charge around a ring over and over, and keep pumping more and more charge into the ring. Essentially making it a battery minus the chemical changes and plus a whole lot more power capacity (also I think superconducting rings can only hold a single charge for about 6 or so years so that makes a lot of sense)

It all seems a little far-fetched. I don't know very much about SMES systems, so I'll leave it at that. I still think they're liars.
July 16, 2008 3:55 pm
you're probably safe making that assumption, for it to work you would either need to be constantly consuming energy to keep it below 70 celcius, or you need to develop a superconductor that works at room temperature.
July 16, 2008 7:13 pm
And a superconductor that operates at room temperature is the holy grail of electrical engineering, if I'm not mistaken. Legitimate breakthroughs usually make it into the media before they make it into products. Usually.

I don't care how amazing this car is, why spend all the money developing the car then stick Ford Focus headlights on it? Unforgivable!

?will not require a charge for six years and will power two 500 horsepower electric motors producing 1000 horsepower and provide supercar performance.?
Is that so? I am incredibly skeptical of this claim and cannot figure out how on earth this could be true. I don't think I'll be looking to buy shares in SSC any time soon but, if they fall short of this astronomical claim, I'll probably be the first in line to short their stock.

remember these motors aren't gas powered (no pollution released means either hydrogen or battery powered with all that techno gizmo stuff joe was talking about..superconducting coil battery or sumthing :D:D:D)
July 16, 2008 4:35 am
bio fuel is not green, its less fuel efficient and releases just as much if not more carbon emissions/green house gases.
July 15, 2008 9:52 pm
Screw you guys lol, i like it alot. Pretty good for a small-time manufacturer.
July 16, 2008 1:01 am
Yes, it is "pretty good" and that's it. Going fast in a straight line is not that impressive and has been done by Americans for decades. Shelby just made a very fast Diablo kit-car replica that is the fastest car in the world.
The guy made his dream into a reality and I don't begrudge him a bit. I wish him all the success in the world, but I'm just realistic about this car.
July 17, 2008 1:24 am
hoohohoho that sounds soooo cool lol... i'd buy it..f*ck it if its american made.. the use of no gas and no charge for 6 years?? pollution free too... man that's an achievement. i hope they do it and prove all the haters wrong. that's sweet stuff right there
July 16, 2008 4:34 am
Not only will it run for six years but it will also have an exotic exterior! Hah! If that's true then hell... I'll buy one myself.
July 16, 2008 6:18 am
Sensei, it makes me laugh how guy call it a kit-car when its totally NOT a kit car. Everything is made from scratch, its own car, watch the video on the same site. Considering this just one mans endeavor, being the worlds fastest street legal/factory car is more than "pretty good", its amazing.
If you also watch the video, Jarod Shelby also says the main point of the Ultimate Aero was to put them on the map. They have plans for a green/electric Ultimate Aero as well as a 220mph~ sedan. who knows if it will be that fast but even if only hits 200mph, thats nothing to scoff at.
Last Note, to make sure you know, even the SSCs engine is a 6.3 but its built/cast from the ground up. Unlike others they didnt just grab a Chevy or Ford motor and slap it in. They researched for the best V8, found it, tore it apart and from what they learned, built their own to be better in every way i imagine.

I'm glad someone pointed this out i've also read its faster around slaloms than an enzo, so its not just straight line speed that it wipes the floor with. I don't see why people think its ugly either it looks snake like at the front and its wide and low like a supercar should be!
I'm still skepitcal about the claim on batteries and speed, i'd have thought scientists and massive electrical companies would make such a break through and such a revelution would be reported and used elsewhere. They must be able to do it on a technicality with a catch.
July 17, 2008 1:56 pm
I have been thinking about it, and modern superconductors only require 70below celcius, if you used the hydrogen cooling/insulating storage system. It could be pretty cost effective to keep a superconductor at those temperatures.
July 17, 2008 2:31 pm
xanavi, you can laugh all you like. The SSC Aero is still a Diablo kit-car look-a-like. I am quite well aware that it is a car from scratch, just like every Diablo clone is. Hey, some people like Diablo clones and are willing to spend more than $600,000 for one. However, only 50 will be built....if they can sell that many to kit-car fans out there. And, as for going over 200mph in a straight line, a guy in Britain has the world's fastest street legal car and he's a transmission mechanic.

Others are free to be impressed all you like. However, if I ever see an American total package that's dynamic and not a derivative design, then I'll get excited.
July 17, 2008 6:37 pm
Aight, sensei ill continue to laugh and be impressed, you in return can continue to be HIGHLY ignorant ;)
July 17, 2008 7:01 pm
Such weak and immature children. I can live with other people having differing taste then myself but you cannot.
July 18, 2008 1:15 pm
I can live with other peoples opinions sensei...but i find it unfair when someone takes away from someone else's ' hard work and hard spent money. To say you dont like the car is 1 thing but to say its just another crap diablo kit car highly direspectful to car and more importantly the man behind the car.

I work as an intern for the National Cancer Institute so I hear so weird science related things from my co-workers..Someone developed a magnet that could run a ford focus on a 9 volt battery for hours so the type of technology is there...
