It goes without saying – the Alfa 8C Competizione is a truly beautiful car and any new model based on the sportscar is likely to be given a thumbs up from the automotive enthusiasts community. Therefore the reports of an even more potent GTA version is likely to put a smile on your face.
According to autocar sources, the Italian brand is planning a special model for its centenary celebrations in 2010. Only 100 units will be made of the 8C Competizione GTA making it even more exclusive than the regular model. The engineers will begin by giving its 4.7-litre V8 engine a good beating forcing it to pump out 500bhp and they will compliment the extra power by reducing the kerb weight by 150kg down to 1450kg. Once the model has been produced it could well act as the foundations to increase Alfa's presence in motorsport.
Recent rumours have also stated Alfa are in discussions with Ferrari to use their California platform for the successor to the 8C Competizione, we doubt this has much relevance to the GTA version, but at least gives us a strong insight into the optimistic aspirations of the Italians.
