Renault has a rich motorsport heritage, and it is a shame we don't already see any kind of worthy sportscar on our roads. However, according to rumours, this will change in 2010 with the return of the Renault Alpine.
Above you see a rendering of an extravagantly styled concept version of the Renault Alpine, whilst many will agree with us there is little chance of the model looking anywhere near as intense as this, we sure wouldn't mind seeing a model like this hit the motorshow circuit.
Artist Arseny Kostromin completed this project during an internship at the French automaker.

it's nice, but i think there's a little to much of an audi r8 in it. i don't like that metal blade at the rear wheel. but as i drove an a610 i would love to see alpine coming back to life.
I think they were going for that. It's a great time saver to just copy designs... legally.
just like everyone else is sayin..looks to much like the Brilliant R8.. A Renault Supercar just doesnt seem right in the first place.
the alpine was no supercar - it was a sports car. i think this design concept tries to continue what the a110 began.
Saw the blog. Nice job amade! Thanks. I suggest to look at it before adding comments on originality of the student work.
So, here we go: I'm ready to drive Laguna dayly to have it for a fun. like R8-hahahahahaa
this is no rendering...it's a large scale model. the last shot featuring a front wheel is a dead giveaway of its actual dimensions.
my apologies , it's actually the shot of a rear wheel ... 'must be getting older.
Indeed like the other comments, this pics did me think directly to the R8, but the back is kind of cool, a bit like a spaceshuttle thing. But i got a problem with the round lights on the front. taste, he
The R8 is nothing more than a normal Audi, but they "managed" to make it brilliant!! same thing here. Moreover, this is an ALPINE... It represents Reanault at its best.. So I guess that you dont laugh again.. the only thing I dont like in it is that its R8 inspired!! Looks like they only played with the body panels!!
I'd like to congratulate the guy who did this for an awesome job! You have to be kidding, just because it has a metal-blade on the side, doesn't make it looks like an R8! Nobody ever complained the R8 looks like a cross betwen an A4 and Gallardo... :p
This is a student work and far not bad for a Russian boy with his possible cultural tradition on "automobilisme".
maybe you wanna check my blog, i made a little comparison with the old a110.
I like it alot...ive always liked Alpine...and knew they could build a great sportscar for todays times. Not to mention take a few rally titles :)
Is this the next generation R8? :P Renault supercar just doesn't fit.
One of the things I don't get about the R8 and now this car, is what is that odd sidebar thing? It looks out of place, serves no obvious useful function. It is a bigger gimmick then the american cars that have fake air intakes, at least those you know what they could have been.
like an r8 but lacks audi's finesse, engineering, and everything elses
r8 or not, really nice. i'd defenetley sleep with it. but, let's hopw it wont have an mpi or hdi, or some other eco french crapy underpowered engine.
Um, wow, does Renault now have relations with Chinese manufacturer Cherry? Because they both seem to be "borrowing" ideas to an absurd extent...
rofl....just cause it has a metal piece on the sides....what hideous comparisons.....
no surprise then, russians love Audi more than any other carmaker.
The kid who designed this car must've been a real fan of the R8. From the front headlights integrated into the air intakes, the body shape, the side panels..he better go get a lesson on originality.
Renault, and French designers are always doing a great job, coming up with some of the best results in the world. The resemblance to Audi's R8 is only fair, but also follows latest trends in super sport vehicles. Good Job.
It's really just an R8 copy plus from the back it looks like a cayman...stop copying & start inventing Renault! - anyone knows that you have good designers over there (avantime etc.)...
Oliver, it's too obvious it a stupid students clay model taken on a random tarmac, look how damn big the pothole is, it's not RENAult..
Come on guys...ild admit there are a few similarities to an R8...but thats all there is. And show some respect for APLINE !!! Everybody forget or neglect how much APLINE has accomplished in the motorsport world, specifically Rally. The car might be similar to an R8 but given its an Alpine, it will most definitely be a different beast altogether.
it's not as the audi r8 remember the clio V6 .... that's the metal blade at the back. i think audi took that from renault.
audi R8 - 2006 clio V6 - 2003 i think this car is all about renault alpine . no audi here.
