"modifications including plenty of chrome inserts"
Yeah, right, I see lots of chrome on that truck.

It appear that Ford finally found a way to get the dirt bag into the cab. Where on a harley it rides on the bike.
July 1, 2008 8:03 pm
Um, why when gas is close to 5 dollars a gallon, are they still building trucks of this size?
July 1, 2008 8:43 pm
Contractors use a F450 Harley Davidson edition?
What for exactly?
What possibly do they need to haul that requires a 6.4 twin turbo diesel engine?
I wish these American manufacturers a swift and painful demise before they pollute the little air we have left.

lets see... i live in north america and i'm not a big fan of these trucks. However, for farmers, construction workers, and for big projects these trucks come in good hand. and yes they haul ridiculously large trailers, which can be filled with horses, to hay, to big rocks and anything you can think of. Trust me... people that buy these trucks actually use them for what they were made for lol

but yea... a special edition is a little strange, but maybe people like a special edition work truck lol

Please is this some kind of joke, blue flames on the doors. come on how stupid do you think we are. This is just someone modified truck driving around and I bet it belongs to WCF.
July 1, 2008 9:10 pm
i think it is time for ford to get some new designers nd redesign their whole range (in america)

While the current F-150 design is getting a bit old...its still the best selling pick-up and probably the nicest one on the market. Not mention its actual practical edge over other similar trucks in real life. The F series pick-ups also look great...they look like a big menacing miniature Semi-trucks. Some models could use a change...however their problems with trucks...have nothing to do with looks, its the gas thats causing them trouble.
July 1, 2008 10:26 pm
Yea...i disagree with all of you. The flames are gayness but the rest of the truck is very nice. Especially the blacked out grill althought that might not be production. These trucks are awesome man..stock they have about 650+lbs. feet of torque...and ive heard another 300 is easily unlocked through a simple chip.(same goes for Dodge Cummins deisel counter-part).
July 1, 2008 10:23 pm
look i have absolutely nothing against truks (actually i love big cars/trucks) all i was sayin is that they can still have their big trucks but they can make them look abit kooler
July 2, 2008 1:12 am
People dont just buy these trucks to drive them to the grocery store. There's people whose jobs depend on these kind of trucks. Towing and hauling serious loads require big powerfull trucks, and a honda civic or any little 4 cyl isn't gonna cut it. I myself dont like fords and specialy the flames, but i could understand why there is a market for these vehicle. And even if the gas is 4 dollars you still have to work.

By the way, the 6.4L is actually cleaning the air. It's coming out the tail pipe cleaner than when it goes in.
Big American trucks rock!
July 2, 2008 6:14 pm
What is it with American car companies. Do they not realize how horrendously ugly their cars are? Why do they think that more and more slabs of chrome make a car look nicer. Pathetic.
July 1, 2008 11:07 pm
Because at least on the truck side of things...it sells. Forget what you know about American cars when it comes to trucks. If you need a truck for work thats gonna always deliver the power torque you need and always get the job done...then you just gotta buy American. Toyotas' Tundra is great...but sadly Toyota still hasnt built a Diesel motor for that truck so compared to an American diesel counter-part, in towing capacity its gonna get 0wned. Which as 188f said...makes all the difference to the WORKING mans job.
July 1, 2008 11:55 pm
Are you honestly trying to tell me that toyota and honda make better looking cars than GM? Really? Your kidding right?
July 2, 2008 12:30 am
Toyota's Tundra is much better looking than any American truck because American designers seem not to have a clear understanding of aesthetics. My above comment is a generalization for many American made cars, not just this.
July 2, 2008 1:37 am
First of all the tundra is ugly in my opinion. They tried to hard to make it look tough and it just looks bloated. But then again you can't really argue against that because it is all personal preference. I think all of the full size American trucks look better that it the Sierra especially. Do you think that the camary and accord look better than the Malibu or the avalon looks better than the Impala because its ridiculous if you do. What is this aesthetics your talking about? Give an example and I will tell you why your wrong.
July 2, 2008 1:52 am
I agree gmfan, toyota makes the blandest cars on the face of the planet. Between scion and toyota the most interesting vehicle they make is the matrix, and that is just a glorified economy hatchback.
July 2, 2008 2:14 am
Yeah i guess you are right, toyota's are pretty bland if you completely ignore the existence of Lexus.
July 2, 2008 8:36 am
Do you realize that (1) the Toyota Tundra was designed by Americans, (2) from the previous generation to the current one, the Tundra's design has changed from very Japanese-looking to aggressive-looking, just like the Fords and the Dodges and the trend will continue, and (3) NOBODY will buy a gay pickup with a nice, innocent sedan design?
It's so sad that you don't understand the pickup market design language. We want pickups to look macho, to look aggressive, and under those parameters this Ford is very good-looking. Now, if you and other "outsiders" think pickups are ugly because they don't look like Leonardo DiCaprio but they look like Mark Calaway, then good for you, but don't ask what is wrong with American companies because, like I said, there is nothing wrong with them. Then again, I might ask what it is with you.
July 2, 2008 2:49 pm
Macho and aggressive don't necessarily mean ugly. You don't think a guy can be 'macho' and good looking. That car just looks like a guy who got his face stuck in a woodchipper. Also, BMWs are designed by Americans. Mercedes' are designed by Americans. Jaguars are designed by Americans. But these designers all work for foreign companies. I meant designers who work for American car companies if that clarifies anything. Your opinion is not my opinion. Think what you want.
July 2, 2008 8:20 pm
Ford must feel like a guy who just showed up to a college party with a 50 year old Cougar as his date.
July 2, 2008 1:34 am
The Question is, would people still buy a luxury/limited edition truck like this just to be used as a work truck?
July 2, 2008 1:39 am
yes, rig pigs always try to one up each other. Why else would you think truck performance upgrades/lift kits are so popular.
July 2, 2008 2:15 am
About the sales of Ford's full-size trucks:
"June sales of F-Series trucks, including the Super Duty trucks made at Kentucky Truck Plant, declined 40.5 percent, to 38,789 units, from 65,156 units a year ago."
July 2, 2008 2:33 am
yes my man, they have declined however the higher paid contractors and workers who can afford the deisel gas will still buy the trucks. Truck sales will continue to fall but never dry up completely because as we all said, they play a role in work and jobs as well as the Diesels being clean(er)-burning vehicles, means they can be built for a while even under newer more stringent emission standards to come. The standards will come..but the Diesel truck will live on will live on for at least another decade.
July 2, 2008 3:48 pm
If I were to be red-neck, this abomination would be such joyful bling.
July 2, 2008 3:59 pm
To whoever doesn't like what this truck looks like, do not blame the "designers". You guys all have this idea that the designers/stylists have free reign to do whatever they want, which is far, far, far, far from reality. Someone in marketing dreamed up this idea of increasing the profit margin on F-450s, and sold the idea to the program team, who bought it to it, and the "designers" were allowed to do minor color and trim changes to the F-450 that already exists. That meant some flames, and new wheel, and better leather inside. That's IT. And if you don't like the regular F-450, yep, the designers were allowed to change the grille and headlamps for 2009, and stamp SUPER DUTY into the tailgate. Notice the doors are the same. Man, my friend works at Ford, and its not the designers who screw up the look--- its the beancounters, engineers, and people who won't allow them to change anything or won't pay to make the good designs they want because they ***just don't get it!***
