This year Lotus are celebrating their 60th anniversary and what better way than to introduce a brand new model at their home motor show in London. We have been limited to a heavily camoflaged model in the past making styling lines difficult to make out, but now as the debut approaches we have been treated with this new teaser image.

Those of you with a good memory may also know that this isn't the first teaser to be released, back at the time of the Geneva Motor Show, Lotus revealed a single photo showing the front part of the chassis, with the suspension and brake system in view.

Power for the rear-wheel-drive sports car is expect to come from a mid-mounted Toyota sourced 3.5 liter V6 and the model will only be available as a rear wheel drive. Pricing should start at around £46,000 when it is launched early in 2009.

eagle...........eagle...........sorry my narcalepsy kicks in when i say the name, im hoping that the styling is better than the europa, another terrible name, the car looked really cheap especially at the rear. i hope the styling is more like the espirit concept from the lotus calendar from ma couple of years ago. that car was stunning.

Lotus = trying so hard to be special even though it isn't a real sportscar.

You should google Lotus and see just how much they've had there hands in... I'm sure their engineering expertise is in some way responsible for multiple vehicles that you swoon over.

Lotus not a real sportscar? In what way... they've always prouced great sports and supercars, and racing cars. Or are they too hardcore for you, prefer a little softness?

By outsourcing a dependable engine that makes great power, gets good fuel economy and passes emissions tests Lotus can concentrate their resources on the other important parts of a great driving car. This V6 is pretty ballsy in the Avalon. I can only imagine how it will propel a light vehicle.

A few of the lotus models use a yamaha toyota engine for a while now.
