if you listen he wasnt even on the gas when it did. its almost as if he let it pass.. .. their right though it does sound good.

Well , the people at Nurburgring must be raking in the cash letting all these cars test there.
The NSX Sounds glorious , and even as a front engine car it seem to perform well and looks ballanced right.

The sound of that exhaust note leaves a very big smile on my face... very reminiscent of a Formula 1 car, no? Can you imagine, coming out with a car that needs no forced induction system that can handle the competition (GT-R, ZR-1, 911T)?

That thing revs high! And sounds very good, too :P If you people have eyes and ears attached to your head, and have some brains in the middle, you can obviously see that the NSX was running very slow (perhaps cooling down before exiting the track?) and let the SLK overtake. The NSX wasn't even in the correct line there, but made way so that he wouldn't ruin the lap of the SLK. Ok? :D

I didn't totally like the design of the new NSX and didn't like the fact that they were going with a front enging instead of the mid-engine however seeing this thing perform on the track. I am very pleased i applaud them for having the courage to get away from that design. there is no body roll its nice. they will reach their goal. Now if we could just get Mazda in on it the we'll have a battle Royale.

Nissan just put in a punch and is waiting till everyone else delivers their punch before they deliver the final blow with the gtr spec-v. And befor they say GTR killer they should realize that the GTR is just a base of the car and you could probably extremely tune that car like the older ones. The NSX will not be able to be tuned as much as the turbo charged monster. And V10? They are probably getting 600-700hp out of it to beat a car with about 500hp

Of course you won't be able to tune it as much as a GT-R. Honda racing engines are designed to get the most out of their engines (rpm's) without the use of turbo's; definitely a more difficult feat than using f/i systems.

Pzigly...you're off right there brother, the V-spec might be the answer to the ZR1, ACR and NSX...but what happens when the mighty King of Japanese Supercars is reborn ? the NSX Type R ? NSX Type Rs of '02 had 310-320hp but more importantly they weighed mearrrly 2800lbs~ making them very fest. now this regular NSX is to have 550HP and whatever weight it will. However from that chop off at least 200lbs and even if there is no power increase to a future NSX Type R, it would still probably clip the V-spec if only due to lighterweight. I love Nissan, but the GT-R was somewhat lucky the NSX was so expensive in price, taking it somewhat out of the GT-Rs' competition because the NSX had the GT-R fairly beat at least on a track. The same will likely happen again.

I really think the GTR could get more than only 200pounds off. It should be able to get to 3,300 which is about 500pounds off. Nissan just needs to wait till a competator can finally come out with something that can beat the GTR and then they will strike back. If you guys look Nismo bought back 20 gtr's in 2002 and created one of the best supercars out there the Z-tune. That car would have beat any NSX out there with its 600hp stock 2.8L engine. The car has already recorded a lap of 7:37, although its tooooo early for it to start recording times. Months from now, The car will easily come to the 7:26!!

Nissans making huge leaps and bounds the v-spec will be a car hard to beat, and for japanese super cars the gtr is it, and if the max power out put for japanese production cars wasn't limited to 280ps( back then) the gtr would have been even faster and even have a bigger rep than it already has. the day honda make a faster car than the v-spec and get a better lap record then i will believe

Pzigly...of course the V-spec could lose more than 200lbs....but that doesnt mean anything, certainly not that it will. for various reasons there will be a limit to how much weight they can drop...the same goes for the NSX, they could drop 500lbs...that doesnt mean they wont. As for the Z-tune...you cant compare that to the NSX Type R...for one thing the Z-tune cost at least 250-300K, the NSX Type R cost about 120, maybe less...We're talking street cars and the Z-tune was a street car but it also had 85% of the parts out of a JGTC R34 Race Car...not fair in any way. So still even then the HONDA NSX was the fastest FACTORY/DEALER issue Japanese Supercar.

Xanavi - if you watch the you tube video you would have hear the commentator report that the z-tuned cost around $160 000 and the only the gear box and suspension are race spec.

If u actually go to Japan and ask some one there in motorsport: Who is the King of motorsports in Japan, they will tell you Nissan GTR. The NSX (older ones) might win in a 0-60 but the GTR will win on the track. And in the GTR you can fit 4 people.

Ya I saw it. But if you think about it, the track is 7-8 min long for a fast car. The GTR did it in 7:29, all the next gtr needs to do is get atleast half a second faster for each minute and it will beat this car by one or 2 seconds. I honestly think that the new tuned GTR will be 1-2 seconds faster than the current gtr espically since it will be lighter and have a even better tuned suspension. Also that long straight on the ring will hurt the gtr's time. The gtr has a short gear ratio so cars start to beat it at around 120 mph.
We just have to wait and see what the new one will be.....

I saw a video of a z-tune doing the ring but it was wet, i wonder if the transmission set up in the r35 would handle the torque from the 4.5L V8 with twin turbo's, this would be a lethal set up don't you think maybe the r36 will employ this set up to give more higher end speed?? or would it be to much weight for the amount of hp and torque gained and not worth it??

will be interesting to see the gtr do the top gear power lap, i think the gtr will be right in its elements there.

It wouldnt be a good idea to put a v8. Its heavier and is why nissan didnt use it in the first place. There were rumers that they would use a v8 but it would be heavier and the car wouln'd handle as well. And I dont know why you would want a V8. The v6 can be tuned to anything you want it to be.

It's still not faster than the GT-R, the real surprise is the Lexus LF-A, it clocked 7:24 in Nordschleife.
