SUVs are getting smaller and smaller. I guess it's a good sign?

This isn't an SUV. The name implies its top offroad acheivement - a dune. They're just catering to the fashion of onroad SUVs. Personally, I dislike any kind of 4x4, but business is bottom line and if people want such rubbish cars, then that's what they'll get.

Yes but the "go anywhere" bit needs to be refined.

well, I hope it's at least as good as the Fiat Panda 4x4 in off-road. if not, they shouldn't bother, since it would only be a Polo with a slightly higher suspension setting and some plastic side skirts. and I'm so tired of cars like the Cross Polo, "all show and no go".

Has VW been finally taken over by soccer mums?

I know they have been managed by a board of metrosexuals for quite some time now, so Soccer Moms are an improvement...

serraxtrem, there's already the CrossFox, which is an offroad-looking Fox. Not quite as short as the Lupo, though (over 4 meters, in fact).
