More Ferrari California Images Surface

Also see new video of retractable hardtop in action

Ever since the Prancing Horse released initial details of the Ferrari California we have been left in awe over the model, but being restricted to just computer enhanced images left us wanting more. Fortunately German site Autobild has managed to obtain a group of shots of the new model out in the real world.

The California will be fully unveiled for the world's media and viewing public at the Paris Motor Show in September and leading up to the event Ferrari have been gradually releasing further details through a special mini site.

The California slots in at the bottom of the Ferrari portfolio just below the Scaglietti 612, it is powered by new 460 hp 4.3-Liter V8 Engine placed in the mid-front position of the car and features direct fuel injection and a “flat” crankshaft. Iut is mated to a brand new seven-speed dual-clutch transmission system which enables the California to launch from 0-60mph in less than 4 seconds.

Check out the video above to see the retractable hardtop in full action and stay tuned on WCF for more details in the coming weeks and months leading up to the California's worldwide debut.

i really like this car, it's very beautiful, the only thing I cannot get used to are those quad exhaust pipes, they just mess the whole rear.

I 100% agree with you. Also my only other dislike is the rims, Ferrari could have packaged better rims.

The car is almost perfect. But two things are here. First I am not sure about these exhaust tubes that way. Second is a color of interior. Is it a generation's taste we should live with, where tastful colors means color chart of eatibles in general, or it just a new barbarian era is about to come?

I think that this is the baby Ferrari and as such it slits in lower than the F430

Not true. It will cost more than a basic F430.

This ride is awesome. For some reason, I like the smaller Ferrari's looks more than the big ones, like the 360 and the F430.

A convertible hard top? Talk about a well crafted design. It's beautiful. Although, it wouldn't be my first choice in picking a Ferrari (thinking performance over looks), it could be a close third. It's not for every Ferrari aficionado, but overall, I think it will attract more customers who probably wouldn't really consider owning a Ferrari in the first place.

I don't like this car, i could see it more like a maserati than a ferrari. Too soft for a ferrari.

This car is 100% gorgeous, 100% Ferrari. My advice to anyone who doesn't love it - don't buy one.

apart from the fussy rear and uninspiring alloys its pretty sexy. Classic GT proportions, looks like a 550 Maranello somewhat. Surely iis the new entry level Ferrari?

I agree, somehow I see some lines and the hood scoop similarly to the 550 Maranello, and the profile looks like the silhuette of an extended 360 Modena.... the grill from a 599 GTB, and it makes it look great. Don't know about the IS-F exhaust pipes, not to keen on them. But the shape looks classy and well proportioned. You could have the best of open motoring in the shape of a sexy GT. It looks more beautiful than the F430 which is seriously form following function.

Looks more and more like an Alfa and Maserati....not a bad thing though, still looks nice!

beautiful in and out~ yes, except for the stacked exhausts.

the construction of the exhaust pipes is an accomodation to the package - they fitted this car with a convertible hardtop - which needs lot of space - and there is also a diffusor. it's definitely NOT a gimmick like on the lexus IS-F.

Good point you are making... Ferrari hardly makes something without thinking of a real design & performance reason...

It is an "entry level car" get look at the Manettino-there only 3 positions "drive me as a sport car"; "drive me as a race car" and "drive me nuts".

lol, I agree... it is perhaps for amateur Ferrari owners who wouldn't be too comfortable dealing with more seettings like in the F430 and 599GTB. I would rename them "drive to the mall", "pretend I'm a good driver", "suicide mode"

Good car, great engine but the F430 is cheaper and faster than this car will be...so this car would only reallyserve a purpose for the uber-rich who will buy a car mainly because of its rarity and its "standing".
