The Audi S4 is entering final stages of development and these latest shots caught by the ever intuitive folks spy photographers at Carpix show the model in complete showroom trim complete with the S4 logotype.

Under the hood Audi will dispense of the V8 from the previous generation and replace it with a brand new supercharged 3.0-liter power unit, it offers significantly less fuel consumption than the outgoing engine while increasing overall power output to 350 ponies. The new lighter engine will be mated to the new dual-clutch S-Tronic transmission system (better known as VW's DSG) and we expect to see a sub 6-second 0-100km/h time while the top speed will be electronically limited to 250km/h. The same engine will also be used in the A6 facelift albeit slightly de-tuned to 290hp.

The excellent aggressive stance of the A4 meant the S4 only needed a few subtle enhancements, the most notable exterior features are the quad exhaust pipes and LED rear lights. Close inspection of front fascia also reveals a slightly redesigned grille, bumper and air intakes.

Both the sedan and Avant variants of the Audi S4 will make their world debuts at the Paris Motor Show in September.

Finally Audi is bringing back the days when tuning an Audi was relatively inexpensive and fun (three cheers for forced induction!!)

I've been holding on to my A6 2.7T (Stratmosphere Stage 6), hoping for the day when I'll come across a worthy replacement. Now it seems that this day may not be too far off.

The A4 TDI S-line I recently drove didn't have the fancy LED rear lights. Oh, the envy.

This thing though looks good, maybe a bit short on "aggro" or how it's called nowadays. :D
