Totally unrelated to the Nissan and Sony Playstation “GT Academy” cooperation, Nissan's Race Academy program invites every GT-R pre-order customer in the UK to participate in events this August and September at Silverstone or the Nürburgring in Germany. Attendees will be given 45 minutes of flat out track time behind the wheel of the GT-R plus drifting lessons in a 350Z. They will also be given a lesson in fully exploiting the GT-Rs full potential in a track environment. Furthermore, participants will be offered the opportunity to build upon the experience and craft their driving skills even further, eventually leading to obtaining a Motor Sport Association (MSA) approved racing license.
Marketing Director Vincent Wijnen for Nissan Motor (GB) Limited states: "The GT-R epitomises Nissan's passion for cars and we want to share the excitement and the thrill of the GT-R with our customers. To do that, we will give those GT-R customers the chance to spend some quality time with the car before they take delivery of theirs. On the one hand, these tailor-made customer events will whet their appetite for a car which the world's press is already hailing as one of the most capable all-round supercars on sale today, while at the same time bringing together passionate, enthusiastic GT-R fans."
Stephane Cottin, Vice President, Marketing for Nissan in Europe, said: "All of us at Nissan who have been working on the launch of this fantastic car want to provide a customer experience for GT-R customers which reflect the passion they have for GT-R, a passion which is matched by our own. It's important to us that GT-R customers enjoy everything about the car - and these customer events will give customers the opportunity to fully enjoy the GT-R's capabilities on a track, while they await delivery of their car."
First customer deliveries are expected in March 2009
