i know the SUV is fashionable and sells well, but with Porsche taking over VW i'd leave the building of the cars idiots buy to that lot and concentrate on the sports car side of things. a diesel 911 would hit the mark, and with the R8 V12 TDI on the horizon it would seem that the era of the diesel supercar is upon us (and no excuses about not being able to make a boxer diesel - Subaru managed just fine)

I like it how people think diesel is our salvation! It's not people: diesel is still oil. All the manufacturers should be slapped in public for investing in this technology for the last 20 years instead of going for real alternative fuels. Who cares about big diesel engines, when new turbocharged small petrol engines get better performance from less displacement and by using about the same amount of fuel!? Did I mention diesel engines are expensive, cost a lot to run and diesel fuel prices are going up?

Diesel prices are going up? Maybe only in USA. Diesel engine will outlast any petrol engine. You guys have no idea what's going on. There is so much more with diesel to be uncovered.

you are bad informed. Not only USA. Some nation sold there diesel more expensive then petrol. Germany for example wants the same to pay for both. I hope Diesel will be a good alternative in the near future. But ShinyG was right. It's oil like petrol. Real alternatives for the day after tomorrow will be hydrogen, cell-technique and so on... And what's wrong with a Diesel, electro- or gasolinesportscar?!
