hehehehe, what a funny story! what kind of idiots they have there to think that this 1.0 liter Gol can reach 880 Km/h!

They know it can't go that fast. But they won't drop the charge because of the revenue it generates. Wouldn't be surprised if they "shared" the revenue earned among bureaucrats.

It went so slow that it confused the camera.

In Australia they'd look, agree it was crazy then say you have to pay the fine and then appeal it somehow. You'd spend more on the appeal.

Yeah right, more like 4800 km/year... This is obviously a good job of one of the stupid cops, which by the way are the majority in their profession. It says that the allowed speed is 40 km/h, so they probably meant he broke the speed limit driving 48 km/h...

It's very rare in Brazil to see cops with radars. Thos who caught this two guys where fixed eletronical radars... Like semaphores.

almost 3000mph? was he driving something made by NASA?

Yeah! Maybe that was NASA made VW GOL! Watch out you don't see and you don't hear its coming...no chance. If you do some physics i guess you'd realise that shuld be a record for the UNIVERSE.

Was the camera spinning the opposite direction, or was he driving a land speed record car at the same time?

hey, maybe 48km/h sounds more plausible -- seeing the speed limit is 40km/h (guessing "velocidade permitida" is "velocity permitted"). And why is this news only been out 7 years later? Strange.

It's because it happens all the time in Brazil. So it's not really "news".

This is very funny :) I have a problem, what kind of camera that police have? That car was running 244m/s and i think the police camera has a maximum 30fps. The need it 2 seconds to get out of the camera sight. So i think the police needs to change their camera to get the "speedy" vehicles like this, maybe i have a car that runs with 1000Km/h :D

Government-paid scientists claim the earth moved that day so fast that the car froze in the air and the radar (attatched to the earth) caught that amazing speed. Not funny, I know. My award for the best joke so far goes to LMS.

I'm brazilian, and the answer is very simple: To gather money. A lot of speed radars and almost no education. It costs less when you install a radar, that doesn't needs a salary, than paying a police officer.
