June 7, 2008 5:37 am
well, personally I only hope neither Tata nor M&M buy this piece of junk!!
June 7, 2008 5:42 am
I hope so too Wolff. It's better to f**k Mosley than to buy this fart.
June 7, 2008 5:49 am
Wolff your about 14 years old? , anyway good for you GM best to sell out all the big heavy fuel guzzlers to Companies with no idea and no market research , If Oil hits $150 a barrel then all the toyota prius cars will be the ones in high demand.
June 7, 2008 6:33 am
hmm.. the researcher's here.. he predicts "age" "oil prices" n "research of other companies".. hmmm.. M&M are working on hybrid vehicles, even with that much lesser 'moolah' than wat GM n Ford has.. n wat do the Americans still have?? many of u guys here talk like u know the Tatas n M&M inside out without knowing a piece of them..wat make u think that Tata wouldnt probably put the Hummer into production for the army n scrap all plans of civil production?? so, the Indian army can get their hands on this machime.. u r talking of market research.. i remember in '97 one American company did a survey in Tata n asked them to shut Tata Steel as it would give them only LOSS.. lolx.. today its the 6th largest stell co in the world.. so, wat research are u talkin of so greatly American?? remember, we r not noobs sitting like idle ducks.. we r here to be on top.. n guess wat, we r reaching there! ;)
Go Tata GO!!!
June 7, 2008 6:51 am
... the current hummer is NOT a military vehicle... its a tahoe pickup truck with a new body shell. if tata wants to make the hummer a military vehicle, they'll haf to create it from ground up
June 7, 2008 2:20 pm
tru dat Skychao... not that many people know that about the hummer either lol
June 8, 2008 2:04 am
Market research eh?? if Tata hadnt done a market research.. the Nano wouldn't be out.. n wats so great about the Nano? well, its just stirred up a new interest in the automotive industry.. today, GM, Ford, Toyota, Nissan~Renault, Skoda, Suzuki, Hyundai, VW, Fiat want to build cars which would compete with this car.. everybody wants to bite into the $2500 spectrum of cars.. n u know wat, NOBODY.. none even with all the technical superiority in designing & developing autombiles are able to reach close to even the $3000 mark.. n thats hilarious..
Does Ford n GM have any hybrids in the market yet?? NO.. guess wat, M&M will have it in 2010.. a diesle~electric hybrid.. for all that "greatness" in the automotive industry that America calls itself.. n with all that money they have, they havent yet launched it.. n if M&M which according to many of u racially challenged people comes from a 3rd world country is going to do it by 2010, its only a sign of shame on u!!
Tata n M&M are showing "money power" here, which the "3 American Giants" seem to be losing.. n u guys call Tata n M&M as money losing n soon to bankrupt companies.. lolx.. please get ur IQ checked.. Chimps have an average of 97..
n why should Tata stop buying companies.. would u stop eating food?? :O GM n Ford are being starved of money. n Tata is coming as a blessing in disguise for them.. n u dont want that to happen?? so, u want Ford n GM to go down eh?? GREAT!!!
n wats terrorism gotta do with India?? :O have any of u been here? we have more terrorist attacks on us than wat America has ever fced in its entire history.. we lose more people in a year than wat America lost in 9/11.. n Tata is a global money power now, n they have a history which will put all ur "great companies" to SHAME..
Please chuck ur racial n unintelligent n biased view away n have a look at wat good's happening n not post any crap here..n i pity a lot of u here, who think a lot pessimistic about the world when ur going down urself.. lolx..
*cheers*
June 7, 2008 7:18 am
Oh ffs , just because we say a cars crap the big "racist" card comes out . I think you must have shares in the company. And Everyones entitled to an opinion . Think you should do your research before arguing that Gm/ford do not have hybrids , as on this site they cleary state they are in the testing stages , and years ago the vectra was a duel fuel , Im surprised that you didnt know that .
June 7, 2008 10:02 am
there u go.. still in testing stages for all the superiority they talk of!! :O
June 7, 2008 3:15 pm
long story short...this car sucks..and GM need to get rid of it!
I remember the nasty plastic interior that the H2 has..it was one of the worst car I ever have!
June 7, 2008 10:49 am
hmm lets see didnt GM just post a loss of 42 Billion dollars?!
Also, Holden (Aussie Subs of GM) is closing part of its engine manufacturing plant which means 531 jobs being axed!
GM "mild" (whatever the crap that is) hybrid have all been recalled due to battery leaks .... hmmm sounds like troublesome times..
Chevy Volt is probably the only hope GM has at the moment, but to be honest I will wait to see the final product and also first check out how many recalls its going to have...
GM were ahead of every one with "EV" in the mid-late 90's, but they decided to kill the car that could have changed their fate!
As for Tata. M&M considering to buy this one ... hmmm why not, maybe a nano sized hummer would be less offensive!
June 7, 2008 10:57 am
I'm now getting scared, Tata might buyout the Merc, BMW and Audi in the near future and i know just how fickle their products are. Their cars look like cars but they ride like motorised prams. This investor is trying to buy into known products. Be afraid coz the Jags, Land Rovers and now the Hummers will be grey product grade pretty soon. Oh man you can't trust this guy besides what we knnow about the Nano car project is only the good side - did they tell you that the poor Indian villagers were displaced with nowhere to farm or live just to make room for the Nano Factory? There's very liitle vacant land in India they might as well relocate to the Sahara Desert should they want to put up more plants. Is this Century marking the end of the American economy? shooo!!!!
June 7, 2008 3:47 pm
huh?!? the land was allocated by the Government.. y blame Ratan Tata?? :O n if the American economy ends.. its good right?? we'll have more growth in other countries without monopoly!! :O n wats with the idea of JLR becoming grey products?? wats wrong with u?? he's just an investor who LOVES automobiles.. by his buy outs only one thing will happen.. Tata Motor's quality of product will improve.. u know of the land deal, but u seem to be ignorant of the fact that JLR's quality, design, engineering, R&D and production shall remain in England.. he's just pouring in the money.. n [touch wood] wat ever Ratan's touched has turned gold.. n i wont be surprised if JLR reaps profit under Ratan..
June 7, 2008 5:53 pm
i can bet anything that tata or mahindra will do a much better job with hummer. they can be used as a car for only government officials. in the process, the compmany (tata/mahindra) will make a nice profit, and ther wont be too many on the streets anyway.
June 7, 2008 4:04 pm
its best if Tata or M&M doesnt buy this unless they have the military versions in mind!! remember the Indian army needs a lot of them now!!
June 7, 2008 5:55 pm
Seriously.. I think WCF should implement an age or IQ restriction for posting comments. I just love how everytime we hear news of an Indian company buying a "western car brand", the first thing you hear is.."oh no.. they're going to turn our cars to s**t". Well guess what, GM wouldn't be getting rid of the Hummer if they didn't think it was already s**t.
Seriously, the people I feel bad for here are the factory workers that will be losing their jobs when GM shuts down those plants. This is indicative of GM has been doing the past 25 years: build a ridiculous amount of crappy and stupid cars, realize that no one wants to buy them, and then shut down plants in the US and move to Mexico (nothing against Mexico). Thank god for Toyota and Honda for filling the vacuum and provide jobs to the people that GM fired.
This is the karma for GM's failed business plan and refusal to accept reality... the world is not an endless pit full of gasoline.
This is the karma for killing the electric car, which by the way would have single handedly put GM on top of the world. But of course, they're a bunch of monkeys that are in bed with the oil companies.
This is the karma for having a CEO that says "global warming is a crock of s**t" (Bob Lutz, for those of you over 13). Oh by they way, GM will have do more than bring the Volt into production. Their technology is leagues beyond that of any other responsible car manufacturer.
I'm not saying that Tata or Mahindra will be successful with Hummer, if they even decide to acquire it. There are no guarantees. But I will guarantee that they would get it for a bargain basement price. Mahindra would be better served if they focused more on acquiring the Jeep brand from Chrysler, which is already on the selling block. If Tata did buy Mahindra, they would probably be better served of they drove every single hummer into a smelting plant and reuse the steel to make electric cars, but that says more about my opinion of the Hummer.
Brands like hummer will eventually be cannibalized or dissolved and keep getting sold until they disappear all together. They are a bane on existence
June 7, 2008 6:05 pm
Not quite the "American Revolution" that GM was hoping for is it?
Stupid add campaign.
Hey, what ever happened to the Chevy SSR? LOL...
June 7, 2008 6:23 pm
Let's look at it objectively, the reason the brands are bought by Indian companies, is to get a foothold into the major International markets. What better way to do than to buy companies that are dirt cheap but still hold high brand value. Instantly they are getting access to years of R&D and the talent, what it needs is the right vision and focus on bringing the right products to the market, which they would have done before buying, they have been doing this for years in other industries which many are not aware of....

I mean seriously, how hot would that be for future Hummers to be based on Land Rover platforms instead of pedestrian GMS Suburbans? Think about it...

"JLR's quality, design, engineering, R&D and production shall remain in England" this clearly has not helped the two brands anyway. Blow your trumpet all you can on the two products being held by Tata but still remaining in England - they are still cold turkeys coz last time some big car maker bought Rover, they offloaded not too, long after as it proved to be costly. Tata can gain all the hard work that has been put in these cars but as long as the end user ignores it for other competitive brands that have a better pulling power n terms of demand - they will lose out. Stop building castles in air like Jeremy Clarkson into believing that Jag is a good brand and will sale. Jag is history mate - go get their Budgets and you'll see red against the jags entries - why do you think they sold it for fun? If the Brits failed to sale to their own people and the West where do you anticipate Tat will sell it to. The Chinese? the lat time i checked the fastes growing markets being China and India (Tata's home) are a very different market compared to Europe and the West. They may have a rising number of Millionares and Billionares but these guys would rather buy the German cars than one based in England and owned by one of their competitors in circles of investment. South Africa, South America and Australa asia are other markets. Go stand by the road and count just how many jags you'll see - Very little and yet these were made by the British who are good and respected engineers. The Rover yes there's a couple of them even though it falls short of it's German competion on sales. Maybe i'm being negative but one thing i know is that Tata does not have a magic wand. How is he going to grow his market coz already most of the people have a negative feel to his ownership of a good brand that failed to sale competitively even whilst under two very good European car makers. It's not as easy as you make it sound by blah blah base still in Euprope coz at the end of the day it's the people mind set that he has to change - and that is his products will be better than the Germans and Japanese. I can't picture an American Sports star or singer ridding in an Indian owned Hummer - now can you. Reality broer is that a Tata be it built by Ferrari or Porsche will be looked over for other competitive brands even if it was better. This whole thing is not a breeze and oh - there's something wrong with you coz you seem to be basing your whole argument on the enineering and technology of the two brands remaing in England. Tata has good IT technology but that still hasn't helped them much now has it. Rather base your argument on affordability and changing the end users mind set. It will surley be tough for him looking at current market conditions world over, with falling buyers confidence and rising costs of credit, food and fuel. He has an even bigger job than others who aready have a big and loyal following. Jag has history but tha's where it ends coz it doen't have a big market. That my friend doesnt make sence and why is a Jag now being compared to a Merc Coupe and 6 series? what ever happened to a Jag competing against the cars it used to compete with such as the Aston Martin, Ferraris and lamborghinins of this world. They fell out and still are getting beaten by the two new competitiors from Merc and BMW. What next car are they going to be wreestling with - the S5 9 much better car still), The Merc C class ( still better) - ...lost cause.

(1)TATA makes tea bags not cars ,(2) its only bought companies - not made them from scratch .
Anyone with a bit of sense knows to buy from their own , Like you say WISP :Tata can gain all the hard work that has been put in these cars , Maybe true but if there is no money to buy cars then there is no TATA .
Fancy a cup of TEA anyone?
