I am pretty sure Chevy had a working electric car a while back, but they axed it - maybe because of pressure from oil companies, maybe even due to pressure from the government (really not trying to be conspiracy theory-esque here). If those groups influenced Chevy before, It would be interesting to know what has changed, and I dont think rising gas prices is the entire answer. I like to see Chevy introducing a product that is in the best interest of consumers (obviously it would be beneficial to Chevy too) and not swayed by other interests. OK - rant over.

what has changed is the fact that Chevy is now being pressured by the populace to bring forward this technology.
