This car uses the hydrogen to produce electricity which will power the electric engine. that's why is hybrid. if it wasn't, the hydrogen would be "burned" in combustion engine...

Thank GOD for Toyota...they leave me with confidance about what happens when all gasoline burning cars are outlawed...i dunno when that'll be but its coming.
