We have been told about the Nissan GT-R super lap around Germany's Nurburgring, but we are yet to see the evidence. Fortunately an astute fan has recorded a television screen showing full footage at what is said to be a Nissan event display.

Nissan did initially claim the prototype used was a completely unmodified GT-R, but later information surfaced that it did feature a number of small tweaks we are yet top see in the Japanese spec model, but we are assured these tweaks will be incorporated into the Euro-Spec version.

The lap time was announced almost exactly one month a go, and puts it just 2 seconds behind the overall production car lap record of 7 minutes 27 seconds current held by the Pagani Zonda. There are also claims by the boffins at General Motors that the GT-R could well lose its spot to the Corvette ZR1 after Chief Engineer Tadge Juechter said “the ZR1 will beat the track record for production cars at any road course in the world.” But despite the ZR1 being spotted close the Nurburgring early last month GM are yet to make any official announcement leading us to believe the ZR1 was just over hyped possibly for publicity purposes.

May I then suggest that the Playstation is unrealistic?

May i just add to all corvette fans to not boast this early on. The V-spec GTR which has more power and less weight is yet to come out and on top of that the special edition nurburgring GTR which is the ultimate has yet to come out... sooo really it may beat the stock GTR but please wait and see the times of the next GTR before you say anything :) .. and i doo love the current corvettes! they are something!

Of course porsche will be here for a long time to come. But let's face it nobody will build a faster car for the same price as the GT-R. I'm sure porsche will come out with something crazy to replace the Carrera GT. But there might still be hope for the M3 CSL.

I saw a Heidfeld's lap on Nordschleife somewhere recently and it was around 6:50, but he wasn't pushing the car to the limits at all. I have no idea what is the F1's record lap for this track but I guess it maybe something around 6 minutes.

You forget that this car is stock. When HKS or the 5-10 other tuner companies that specialize in Jap cars begin making parts for this car, it will blow the socks off any porsche. If old GTR's can be bumped up to 1200hp from a 2.8L six cylinder and still handle very well. Imagine what these companies will do with this car.
