The 8 o'clock news of May 26 on Malaysian TV3 (Proton section starts at 12:30) featured a short report about Proton and how well they are doing since the launch of the Proton Persona and Saga. In this report the TV station also looked into the future of the Malaysian car marque and briefly showed design sketches of their upcoming Proton MPV.
Whether the design drawings are actually accurate is unclear at the moment but they show a car with a front fascia which seems to be a mixture of both the Saga and Persona front ends. The Proton MPV has been sighted as a test mule with Toyota Wish body, leading us to believe the car will be comparable in size. The MPV will most likely be powered by Proton's new 110 hp Campro 1.6 liter engine.
If we take it for granted that the images are indeed official, than Indonesia, Malaysia and Iran will see the MPV first (see text in second image). The Proton MPV is expected to go into production in the first quarter of 2009 and is scheduled to go on sale a few months later.
