Rendered Speculation: 2010 Dodge Charger Concept

The Darth Vader of the Road

Whilst under the DaimlerChrysler Corporation the Dodge Charger was rescued from obscurity and relaunched with a brand new model in 2006 following its debut at the Chicago Auto Show. Sales figures have so far proved to be positive but there have been lingering rumours circling the internet that it could well be axed as it competes with Crysler's other full-size vegicle – the 300. If the boffins at the Pentastar do decide to continue with the Charger, development should be well under way for an all new model for launch possibly in 2012 or 2013.

As a helping hand for the next generation model we present a series of renderings of the 2010 Dodge Charger Concept – the brain child of artist/designer/illustrator Michael Leonhard.

“The Dodge Charger is a muscle car legend. The sound of the 1968-1970 Charger was my starting point to rebirth/redesign the legendary Dodge Charger for 2010. A bad-ass two-door Coupe that pays Homage to the days using the design characteristics and styling cues from the original with a touch of 21st century refreshment. Modern and futuristic incorporating today's styling and design standards. The result is a car that could rule the road like Darth Vader rules outer space." commented Leonard.

We have given the renderings a thumbs up in the WCF office, let us know what you think of them below.

hmm... I dunno. It has some nice aspects, i.e. the rear, but the side is... sketchy.

ohhh so they decide to actually bring back the ORIGINAL charger and not some 4 door 300C copy?? nicenice... a little too late though dodge... the damage has been done and you have ruined the name of CHARGER forever lol unless you destroy all the 4 door models ever made.

The current charger is a replacement for the Intrepid - i.e. A family sedan. They gave it the name Charger and made it sporty in appearance to draw people to it and give it an edge over the competition. As far as this concept drawing goes, it will never happen. Dodge now has the Challenger for its 2 door sports/ muscle car. The Charger serves its purpose, and the the Challenger serves its as well; we don't need 2.

I agree, perhaps a 4-door version of the car in the renderings would make more sense.

It has some pretty parts, but also many ugly parts. Overall too boxy from the doors into the front. A tad boring, although already a lot better than the joke of a car that the current Charger is.

I'm not sure if a 2 door Charger works now that Dodge has the Challenger, wouldn't they steal sales from each other? I do like most of the concept car except for the the hip line becoming part of the side vents, not very attractive to my eyes. The vent should run horizontally and go just under the door handle, similar to the shape of the original Charger's design

Love it. Absolutely love it. In comparison to the sacreligious 2006 charger, it rules. Comparing this to the 1970 charger (THE charger), its as true to the origional design as we could ever hope for. I dont care what you guys say, the sides are almost the same as the origional, as they should be. It is perfect in every way. I shall be extremely dissapointed if I never see it built and put into production.

Needs more doors. These renderings are pointless given the Challenger.

Nice. A few changes needed on the sides but overall captures the essence of the original. New Chargers you can mainly keep outside of the SRT8.

Like grill, hideaway headlights, sides, 2 door, low roof lines; Dislike strongly the rear panel/taillights

Chrysler has permanently butchered both the Charger and Challenger names forever with their stubby taxi cab designs. Both cars lack a front end and seem to be decapitated just inches in front of the front wheel. It looks idiotic and bares no resemblance to the original long nose Chargers. I could have come up with better designs using a Monkey, a bottle of Scotch and an Etch-a-Sketch.
