It wouldn't take many people long to convince us here at the WCF office to vote for the M1 Homage Concept to be put into production. Lets face it, the Bavarian manufacturer is well placed to create a more than adequate replacement to the legendary M1. Take a look at the superb M3 as an example of what the Bavarian manufacturer is capable of not to mention their total domination of the world engine of the year awards over the last 4 years.

Latest word on street now comes from the Brits over at Car Magazine, which claims that an M1 successor is very much on the agenda, but it won't be call the M1. “We have the know-how, we have the right engine, we even have the infrastructure to build such a car,” comments BMW board member Herbert Diess.

Further details about the M1 production version are also revealed in this months Car Magazine issue including the timetable for production, the three-strong powertrain line-up, the lightweight body construction and the plan for ‘heron-wing’ doors, and a driver-focused, multi-layered interior.

I'll keep all my fingers crossed for that beast to go into production. That's every BMW fan dream come true - BMW supercar at last! Put into the equation a V10, 550 bhp motor behind the front seats and you know that's gonna be a killer!

this is what happens when people have no taste and criticize bmw for being boring and unoriginal. They squeeze out a hyper turd. this car is to bmw as the r8 is to audi. Both probably perform phenomenally, but for the price there are much nicer looking/performing cars available.

I think BMW can do better. Well let them build it if they want to, it will sell anyway it's BMW after all. Long time no super car from "ultimate driving machine". I love the side profile looks a bit like Lambo though.

Oh no, this confused looking car is not a BMW. They probably should employ the first Lamborgini designers who had worked on the first M1 design to come up with a new design. I surely hope the M1 looks nothing like this cartoon looking like car - you might as well call it "Speed racer"

"comments BMW board member Herbert Diess."

Herbert Diess is the head of BMW Motorrad (the motorcycle division)

Doubt he'd be commenting on ///M cars...

I love the futuristic looks and the muscular stance so I'm another BMW fan with fingers crossed that it goes into production ... with the V10 and tagged as the M10.

it is not made in Hollwood you know. It has depite of absence of any morphological culture, a BMW grill but remains a futuroclastical soap-opera.
