Over the past few years Mazda has presented some truly breathtaking concept cars all following the “Nagare Design Language” including the Nagare, Taiki and Furai concepts. But we are yet to see the new styling make that step up to the production level. But now Mazda has revealed its first sketches of the Mazda1 – a new concept car which is set to debut at this September's Paris Motor Show which once again follows the same Nagare language and seems to have made a giant leap forward in terms of being ready for production.
The new concept will feature Perspex panels with practical sliding doors and seats. Peter Birthwhistle, chief designer at Mazda’s European Research and Development Centre, said: “The finished article will be even more radical than the car seen here. It will be aimed at young people and feature the likes of iPod connectivity, sat-nav and Blue- tooth. It will be environmentally friendly, and weigh as little as possible.”
Mazda also revealed we should also see a new Ford Kuga based SUV at the Moscow Motor Show in August and a Nagare themed RX-7 replacement is currently under development.
