It does look a bit over-styled in many places. But the smooth, stream-lined shape is at par with Italian designs, although it lacks that 'respectful' and 'gentlemanly' look of german cars.

It is not a sports car at all. Old men should drive Ferraris to get...

sad example of how much a breathtaking concept can be spoiled. wasted chance for renault.

still, the back is really handsome, and i also like the wavy waist line. but the proportions are not right, the car looks too thick, lacking that sleekness of its competitor the peugeot 407 coupe, as BabyMilo wrote in the previous article.

yeahh nd i still think that the 407 coupe is a better looking car... nd that is wat i would buy

What assholes, they didn't upgrade the petrol unit up to 300hp like Nissan did...

Boring as Volvo or Saab whit an Aston Martin tail, the front ist UGLY and the engine powerles as an american car

To my eye it looks like a proper Renault, and seems like it divides opinions like a Renault. Good job.

message to M7....who I almost dare to say and suspect is a putrid BMW driver or something similar....
Not EVERYTHING is the engine as this car does NOT cost as much as the RIP off I might add German cars...
Besides what the hell is wrong with 450 nm of torque??
Just now you where getting something like that out of a 3.2 l Alfa (similar Kw reading)etc....power engines that they are for cruising not road rashing...
May 25, 2008 9:15 pm
Oh yeah M7, powerless (if you could spell...) as an American car. Powerless as a Shelby GT or a 'Vette ZR1.
Plus, it's a freakin' Laguna. It's not a supercar. What were you expecting?850 HP? You can't ask for Lamborghini-like power in every single car there is.
May 25, 2008 11:19 pm
Yes. But Renault still have use oldish and quit uncultivated powertrains.

from certain angles it somehow reminds me of the mx-6 based mercury cougar back in the 90s, and it lacks the racy sleekness seen in the concept but it's still nice... perhaps too accord coup? (aka soft pseudo-luxury) oriented?
May 26, 2008 4:39 pm
I like the back...but I dare say...the front looks like the Hyundai Coupe...it's clear that this car's purpose is to offer a sporting coupe for old people that wants to feel like they are driving something sporty.

Old men and expensive maids still drive CLK-s. Sporty Laguna still be a joke.
May 27, 2008 7:50 am
..and ofcourse that car is not a replacement for a F430, AM V8 Vantage or for Porsche. That car is an alternative for MB CLC or A5. Japanese-Korean or BMW things have no alternatives its clare. Obviously, as a prevention, we must say that Laguna Coupe is engineered to not to be competitor for that nice but metrosexual GLK-box as well.

Oh my dear, how horrible it is to read more then 90% of commentions to an serious offering like that. I know and can imagine, how different every single kind of taste is, but some people seem to hate all, that differ from their personal "dreamcar". To those I only can say: try to find other interests then automobiles. You are a shame in discussions. And about the Renault: personally I like it. It's a special and elegant Coup? and a great alternative to Peugeot 407 Coup?. Glad to see, that both differ theyr Coup?s to the Saloons in design and position. I don't think about old men driving these cars. For many friends of taste it might be some kind of dreamcar. And a dreamcar isn't only a car with endless power. It is a car with style and character.
