Despite the multitude of auto manufacturer employees and execs who visit WorldCarFans.com, unfortunately, Porsche marketing executive, Klaus Berning, is not one of them. If he was a visitor, surely, he would have seen the recent spy photos we published of the baby Cayenne prototype testing in Germany.
According to Berning who spoke with Auto Motor und Sport, the Porsche board has not discussed a smaller SUV which would slot in below the Cayenne. Current Porsche resources are all pouring into the launch of the new Panamera sedan and production of a new model would be overload.
Despite the controversy of the historic sport car manufacturer producing an SUV model such as the Cayenne, the model alone is responsible for more than doubling the amount of Porsche's sold worldwide in 2007. Therefore, it's difficult to believe Porsche has nothing up its sleeve to compete with the other new German offerings such as the BMW X3, Audi Q5 and Mercedes GLK.
