First launched by Renault in Brazil last year, the Sandero hatchback will be branded as the Dacia Sandero in France, home country of Renault. Order books will open next week (May 22) and the first Sanderos are scheduled to reach dealerships on June 27 2008, right on schedule according to last years planning. The Maghreb (North West Africa) will also see the introduction on the Sandero this year, while South Africa and possibly a few other markets may welcome the hatchback in 2009.

The Dacia Sandero will be available in four trims with a choice of two engines, a 1.4 liter MPI with 75 hp and a 1.6 liter MPI with 90 hp. Prices start at Euro 7,800 for the entry level Sandero and will cost no more than Euro 10,900 for the range-topping Prestige model.

yes, you are right, in the end, who needs a simple, reliable car to do your daily tasks for a real cheap price, what-you-see-is-what-you-get-car? much better drive an aston martin to the supermarket, and wear a smoking while you do the dishes.... not to mention that everybody can afford one of those. please show some respect for those makers that are providing a very decent car to those who can´t or don´t want to pay for the looks. it is an admirable effort that renault is doing.

what a ridiculous above post, as with toyota making hybrids, the end result is one thing profit, at the end of the day i very much doubt with the exception of possibly the tata nano, renault did this merely on the merit of providing people with cheap cars.

although agin the fist comment is also unconstructive.

well, i have one indeed, a logan mpv. that´s why i know what i mean... and i don´t doubt about mr. tata´s good wishes, but i don´t suppose he´s missing the posibility of becoming even richer by selling millions of unsafe, high polluting cars-specially given its size. once said this, i respect the right of people from india to have a car for the price they can pay. but that is a very particular case, in europe the dacia takes tata´s place, as for needings and price. or can you guys imagine yourselves crossing europe on a nano???
