The Veritas RS3 we saw in concept form a few years a go has been making a few surprise appearances at the Nurburgring leading to the wild speculation that this crazy and completely impractical car could actually make it to production. So far the drivers and engineers working on the car are refusing to reveal any details or their future plans leaving everyone in the industry second guessing or just scratching their heads.
Veritas was formed towards the end of World War II by three BMW employees who dreamt of their own sportscar brand. They managed to produce 75 units including their most famous Veritas-BMW Rennsport Spyder before they went bust in 1952.
The brand was then left dormant for nearly half a century before it popped up with the Veritas RS3 Concept in 2001 powered by a BMW sourced 6.0-liter V12 engine which boasts an output of 670bhp and 760Nm of torque. The design cues of the model are inspired directly from the original cars thus retaining the brand's heritage.
Total weight of the prototype spotted at the Nurburgring is said to be 950kg leading us to believe the manufacturer's claim of a top speed of 350km/h could well be achieved.
