Lexus IS Facelift Spy Photo?

The Nurburgring obsessed guys over at bridgetogantry.com have caught what they describe as a mystery Lexus IS featuring a fair bit of camoflage. After a quick history check, it appears this could well be the facelift for the second generation model which has been on the market since 2005.

The low resolution photos and the black clad camouflage make details difficult to make out. The covering around the front headlights leads us to believe they will get a slight redesign, but the part that interests us most on this model is that bulge we see on the hood. Could the IS be the next model in the range to benefit from the Lexus' Hybrid Synergy Drive? We can rule out the possibility of a higher-spec model above the current top of the range 306hp IS 350, the IS-F fills this void more than adequately.

How about releasing some other models than fu*king about changing the face of a model that's not been out for that long?

makes me wonder why they think a facelift will do much to their nurburgring times.

Aerodynamics on a track with highspeeds like the Ring is key, looks do influence aerodynamics. You can wind-tunnel test but real life results are important too. Driver input among other things.

But then again, even with the Camo, it doesnt look all that different from the current one save for headlamps, this. I'ld guess the changes affect the IS350 and 250.

Lexus comes out with a car, and then a few years later they do a few small updates to keep it current with the rest of the model line. This new IS will be a lot like the changes they made on the GS form 2007 to 2008. It will get new brake lights, new instrument panel, and turn indicators on the out side mirrors.

Its funny how they come up with a new car so quickly...Unlike BMW or Merc who only update 1ce in every 6-7 years..Turn indicators on the side mirrors? Thats very Mercedes-Benz of them..But it should be interesting since Audi,Merc already have their new small exec sedans in the market...and now BMW and Lexus are facelifting their versions..
