Porsche Roxster to come after all

Rumors are one thing, finally seeing some proof that the gossip was indeed based on reality is quite another. Porsche has denied high and low for a long time now that a small Porsche Cayenne is in the making, much like how Ferrari denies the Dino, but today the first prototype of a small baby Cayenne was spotted by spyphotographers.

Porsche has been riding a high wave thanks to the Cayenne and has high hopes for their upcoming Porsche Panamera four-door coupe. But the success story may not end there now that we have proof of a Porsche small SUV, the Stuttgart based car marque will enter the segment occupied by the BMW X3, Audi Q5 and Mercedes GLK.

The Porsche Roxster (it will most likely not be called that but its all we have for now) will most likely be based on the new Audi Q5 which may also mean that Porsche will add a diesel engine to its range. The similarities between this baby Cayenne and the Q5 are very close with only details (more rounded proportions, side mirrors and less sloping roof line) differentiating between the two cars

Stay tuned for further details when they emerge!

I doubt there will be a compact hatch in 4 years.. They've got VW for these kinds of vehicles, why do they need to ruin a Porsche brand?

all porsche is doing is filling gaps in the market and maximizing profits by going out of their profession, they dont have the passion and essence of keeping up to their name anymore...

as a porsche lover, i have no problem whatsoever with the cayenne. and i wont haev any problem with this thing when it comes out. As far as im concerned, as long a porsche makes fast cars, that handle well, then all is good. This is true for all of the cayennes except the base v6. Plus, if it wasnt for the cayenne, porsche would never have had the money to develop and produce the cayman and panamera.

"if it wasnt for the cayenne, porsche would never have had the money..." The Cayenne must have been giving Porsche some good income then, since they are buying most of VW now.

Porsche should just invent their own platform on which to build Roxter. This is just a badge engineering work all done pretty much by Audi engineers. Porsche probably tweaked it here and there but to think that Audi Q5 is same as Porsche mechanically, it loses some of that exclusivity of the name Porshce. Think about it, 911 is a pure porsche, no body else uses the platform and therefore the exclusivity and Porsche's genuine/authentic engineering from the ground up.

Porsche will not call the car the Roxster - no trademark applications have been made for "Roxster" in the USA, which will be its major market. Manufacturers always register new car names well ahead of prototyping and production - Porsche registered "Panamera" years before the first prototype was spotted; similarly Ferrari registered "California GT" long before the recent prototype sightings.

You're all a bit too Cynical ! Porsche supplies technical and engineering advise to many different vehicle brands around the world because of their ability to get the most out of a cars existing hardware to make it a better driver focused vehicle and if they want to use a high level platform from another premium German Manufacturer (Audi) and tranform it using the Porshe magic (at a more affordable price than other cars in the brand)then bring it on baby. Which one of you would choose a Toureg over a Cayenne ?????

I would chose a Toureg over a Cayenne. It actually has tyres that are able to go more off-road than a grass verge and it looks nicer

if you change the tyres of the cayenne, its actually one of the most capable offroaders around. and if u can afford a cayenne, then chances are that you can get it new tyres too.
