Brilliance DOES Produce Safe Cars After All

A real safe car would've intervened with an active safety system so as to keep the car stable even if the driver loses control of it. It's a sedan, not an SUV; no need to roll two times before hittin the ditch. In any case, they are taking a positive step toward safer cars...albeit slowly.

Are you serious? The car collapsed, you can see that easily. This is nowhere safe. I don't wanna start china bashing, but calling that safe... I am glad for the driver, but it was just luck. The Chinese will learn fast from theit mistakes, till then you a better of with a 5 Star NCap car.

If we all stop buying chinese goods then they would have to sell decent things in the end , And you are right about the NCAP 5 star ratings .

The point is is simple as Mercedes learnt the hard way back in the late 90's in South Africa. They went on air "blah blah blah safest best engineered car in the world crashed 100feet down at Chapmans peak and hey pristo the driver walked out of the crash". BMW crashed this advert by using the recently launced 5 series with the saying "WHY NOT SIMPLY BUY A CAR THAT MANAGES BENDS" or something like that. This advert to date is still looked at as one of the best aggressive direct attack adverts and it worked coz that 5 series was worlds ahead and better engineered than the 'diving Merc'. Emphasis should be on drivability of a car coz then the car would aid the driver to avoid such an accident. Prevention is way better than cure.

It isn't that safe. Look at the safety cell, that is supposed to stay in tact. It looks thoroughly bent to me.

btw anyone noticed the crash was caused not by other cars or anything.... but the inner casing of the wheel which completly snaped off the wheel fixation by the disk brake!!! thats sign of poor quality of materials used to make those wheels!!!!! not cool.

I imagine a BMW would roll a couple times if it flew into a ditch at 60mph too.
