After numerous spottings of a development mule for the 2010 Ford Fusion, we get our first styling clues for the new model after our spies caught a prototype out testing wearing a heavy black cladding disguise.
This is the first time we get a glimpse of what the new generation styling will look like and we can instantly recognise the thick horizontal grille bars albeit heavily revised and a closer look reveals the new updated headlights. The rear is clearly set to receive a major update, but due to the heavy disguising it is too difficult to make out at this stage.
Our sources state power will come from an updated 2.5 inline-4 engine producing 200bhp which will replace the 160hp 2.3 inline-4 found in the current generation. Rumours also say the current top of the line 221hp 3.0liter V6 will be replaced with a 263hp 3.5 liter V6.
Interior upgrades are also expected and we managed to get a sneak peak whilst the mule was stopped at traffic lights.

About the engines, another possibility I read it could end up using the updated engines found in the 2009 USDM Ford Escape (170hp 2.5 liter inline-4 and a 230hp 3.0 liter V6.) It would be interesting to see a 275hp Eco Boost inline-4 engine option.
