Now let the ZR-1 get "close" to this number before criticizing.. This is not even the V-Spec!!!! The second fastest car on the planet.. How proud can the Japanese be more than that!!.. Announcement: Please stop threatening us with your silly ZR-1 or GT2 from now on.. and if you're not satisfied yet, the V-spec will set the rules.. (((GT-R RULES!!))) :)

The car in question is a "press" car, car companies are known to use boosted cars for runs like this. This GT-R is not stock i assure you, a customer bought GT-R will NOT run 7:29...physics are physics. I love the GT-R but the production version will not be this fast, guaranteed.

how can u be so certain? im pretty sure its illegal to fake numbers in the manner u just explained. im sure the production vehicle will be able to set that time, the question remains... can you?

Xanavi23, what do you base your claims on.
Edmunds has tested a customer car and achieved 0-60mph in 3.3 and 1/4 mile in 11.6, both times faster than the manufacturer claim and that was on a crap surface. Autocar UK tested a customer GT-R(grey import) against the GT3 and the GT-R won. Same with CAR magazine. GM claimed that the C6 z06 can run the nurb in 7:42.9 for a standing start full 20.8k lap and yet when Sportauto magazine ran their Supertest for the c6 Z06 the best they could achieve was 7:49 for a FLYING START 20.6k lap(It's on youtube). Physics are physics! So what happened to the 505hp 1450kg z06. Wait for the Sportauto Supertest lap in the GT-R, early 2009, (when the GT-R goes on sale in Germany). It will blow your mind.

I want to see a race round Nurbugring with the best of each sportscar nation- GT-R, GT2, Zonda, DBS, Corvette
May 1, 2008 12:04 pm
i guess..
GT-2... GT-R... DBS... Zonda... Corvette.. n if Ferrari F-430 Scuderia n Lamborghini Gallardo LP 560-4 r added, they'll slot between the GT-R n DBS respectively.. or the Ferrari might just pip them all!! ;)

right, so Nissan is now telling lies is it? give me a break! when will people admit that the Japanese have gone one better over the world this time. talk about being bitter.
May 1, 2008 12:13 pm
Completely agree with you asif.. Japanese are liers!!! They just want to sell more.. PEOPLE!, the GT-R has beaten the 911 turbo in a 2 minutes curcuit with more than 5 seconds.. Do you really not believe this time when putting in mind this is a 7:xx cercuit?? Comon!! Moreover, Manufacturers are not liers.. Try to be logical.. at least a very little bit!!
May 1, 2008 12:18 pm
HAHAHAHA TRY TO BE LOGICAL !?!! how the hell is a car that weighs 3800lbs and has ONLY 473hp gonna beat all the supercars it beat ? Nitrous theres a thing in life called physics and no amount of computers in the world can defy PHYSICS. i love the GT-R but this one is not stock. They lie about power a bit and will never admit so that it gives them better publicity, makes more people wanna buy the car. Its like when Ferrari first released the 599Firoano and it was faster than an Enzo...it was faster because the engine wasnt stock.

I dont blame them, how can a "new" Japanese performance car get the job while all the American tries tend to failure!! They have been existing in this business before any other in the world, and they are struggling since then..

this is crazy (in an good way). the v-spec is going to be even more incredible. but, i thot that the porsche gt2 had clokced a time of either 7.25 or 7.28, no?
May 1, 2008 12:39 pm
NICE!!!
but, this is going to get Porsche on their feet soon, they'll go out there, beat this things time.. then the V-spec comes out n beats that.. n then Porsche will go back again, boosting power, they actually wouldn't give up, coz its their playground.. but neither will the Japs.. am i seeing a Cold War starting?? as i said, NICE!! :D

Incredible. I had looked at the telemetry released from the first run (it was posted on nagtroc), and it was clear the car was capable of a better time due to the few damp corners and a couple run ins with slower cars on the track, but I never would have guessed it was this much faster. Great job Nissan.
May 1, 2008 3:26 pm
Yes... Great job indeed Nissan, just great. However; Do you think that the people that brought you the machine that was the benchmark, which aided you in spawning the greatest achievement in Nissan's (to date that is)would actually let this one down that simple? Not a chance. Again, good job, no, great job, but As Wolff put had put it, it's just going to be an ongoing slug fest. I say, just enjoy the lime-light while you can.

Oh, that's awesome!!! I remember when the V-Spec post went up, and all the know it alls came out of the wood work..."oh thats impossible for its size, hp, and weight, it just can't be done" "10 seconds is an eternity to make up on the nurburgring" blah blah blah and here the non V-Spec GTR is right about there!!!
May 1, 2008 7:22 pm
actually i dont think 10 seconds is that hard to make up on the ring, specially if the car was running on less than perfect conditions. the avg race track is about what 2 miles long? this is almost 4 times that length. granted u are going 2 seconds a lap faster than ur previous time, but its completely possible.
May 2, 2008 12:44 am
Does anyone have pictures or a video of the car accually being on the ring. If it is as good as they say it is would't they have something on the news?
May 1, 2008 8:09 pm
Nissan did release a video of the 7:38 run, along with telemetry. I'm sure they'll give us this vid after a while.
