Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X MR

More power, even sharper

Mistubishi’s Evolution X, known to us mere mortals as the Evo X or simply goddess, is getting even feistier. The Evo X MR (Mitsubishi Racing) edition is set to hit the streets of Japan later in 2008, but not after going through the normal channels of spec upgrade.

Evo X’s engine has been looked at and found to be underperforming, even at its current highly-strung levels. Therefore engineers have reworked things to their better liking to squeeze off 20 more bhp out of it than what you have in the standard car, adding up to 305 bhp in total. Driven by an uprated version of the brand’s SST double-clutch transmission, the Evo X MR remains less powerful than the FQ-330 and FQ-360 UK spec cars, but is the most powerful SST-driven Evo X in the range.

Already stiff in the buttocks as a performance saloon, engineers have sent the car over to their nearest workout centre for extra hard padding on the rear end, making things even stiffer for sharper handling. Cosmetics have not been left out either, with extra vents and air intakes on the front end to help improve cooling.

Very nice. Aggressive, odd to refer to it as a goddess- it's one car that is definitely not feminine.

The only flaw I see on this car is the sideview, where the half rear appears out of proportion in respect to the half front, as if they had merged a medium and a compact cars halves. That's why the 5-door hatch looks better and more balanced in my opinion.

Nice car, this will kill the WRX. Not a big fan of the upside down Audi grill though.

you are wrong...since 80s mitsubishi uses this grill...since GTO EVO have been always best than WRX, subaru uses 2.5 lt engine, Evo have been always 2lt, I really like this japan car after the GTR ^^

only subaru wrx uses 2.5L engines. and you cant compare top range Evo MR to a Wrx. you should be look at STI range and STIs are running on 2L engine. not to mention, STI S204, Spec Cs, TypeRA-Rs and even the base STI models are known to beat every range of Evos.

flaw? i`ll show u the flaw....THE WHOLE BACK LOOKS LIKE crap. the old evo's look much beautiful than the X. even subaru's hatch looks nicer than this...and u know what, i think it's even faster, cause it's lighter

Another nice offering from Mistubishis stable, i can see why people might not like the back end of the EVO but personally i think this new design all comes together well. Its got the sort of classic proportions of older Evos although its heavier, but thats to be expected with safety standards and such these days. Since the start i liked the Evos restyle, it was a good update in my opinion, the power isnt much since buyers can make up 20hp with bolt-ons or other choices but this should be somewhat lighter than an Evo GSR(or other slightly lower model).
