When BMW decided to create a Homage to the legendary M1 supercar, the designers could be forgiven for thinking they have quite a daunting task and judging by the mixed reactions that our loyal WCF readers have given so far, the jury is still well and truly out on this one.
But for those of you who are still undecided or just want to get see the concept in more detail, we have the first video taken from the 2008 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, slowly showing all the fine details. Continue watching until the end of the video to see it next to the original.
The mid-engine design study was created to mark the 30th anniversary of the BMW M1 and there are no indications that this will ever make it to production.

Still ugly.
What an ugly front end. If you pause it at 2:00 it looks like the Predator when he took his mask off.
I haven't a clue what everyone's on about - this thing's gorgeous
This is not the ugliest Bmw it is the ugliest car period. I am speechless. Who design this "thing" for Bmw? Kia could do it better.
i second Wisp, still ugly... oh and just for the record the 6 series is a kool as car!
look at it over a few days. ive just done that, and its growing on me. its like the 5 i guess; it takes a while but you start to learn to like it. still not a fan of the side profile of the front and the rear lights are just useless, but apart from that its starting to look nice... thats a surprise...
this is a visual masterpiece in my opinion. definately a great 'homage' to the now 30 year old M1.
It looks so bad if it's to compete with the SLR for example ... but for the job as a "homage to the M1" I like how it resembles the original M1 .... cuz the original M1 didn't look that good either ! so imagine a similar "not so good" design 30 years later, it just wont look any better of course
Its a cool paint job, but like someone has pointed out on autoblog.... it looks like they designed and made this car in 15 minutes
Everybody must know what is it commenting on!! Do not talk about BMW like that. The BMW knows what to do & what is the better
