They can if they can build up enough speed... Of course, the engine wont generate any thrust in space, so the plane would drop back to Earth at some point. Unless it has so much speed it can actually move away from the Earth's field of gravity...

im curious though...what's the mileage on that Saturn V engine? :))))))))

the part that amazes me the most, is that the engine only weighs 290kg!

well, it may be the most powerful thing on two wheels, but what want to know is if it's the fastest, too. I only pray they don't try running the thing on its afterburners without having some type of aerodynamic stablization, or at least some 500+ pound man (or women, take your pick, i'm not sexist.) to ride it as it fires down the track; preferably a runway, but whatev.
