His Serene Highness, The Sovereign Prince of Monaco, head of the House of Grimaldi and the ruler of the Principality of Monaco, aka “Albi”, has taken delivery of BMWs environmental friendly chariot, the Hydrogen 7.

Described as the first hydrogen-powered luxury sedan to make it to serial production, although limited to 100 units, the Hydrogen 7 has found itself a popular choice amongst high-profile figures who seek to portray an environmental friendly public image. Such personalities include actors Cameron Diaz and Will Ferell, TV presenter Jay Leno, opera star Placido Domingo, film directors Stephen Gaghan and Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, world-famous soprano Anna Netrebko, German ministers Wolfgang Tiefensee and Michal Glos and the Vice-President of the EU, Günter Verheugen. However, Prince Albert II is more than just a crowd pleaser as he is well known supporter towards the protection of marine life and the environment in general.

As part of the "Sustainable Environmental Protection" program which is one of the cornerstones of policy in the Principality of Monaco, Prince Albert has chosen the Hydrogen 7 because it emits almost no emissions when operated in hydrogen mode (only 5g carbon dioxide in the test cycle).  Prince Albert II stated, "I shall be discovering the advantages of the BMW Hydrogen 7 with interest over the coming weeks. I monitor very carefully, in the automobile sector in particular, the development of new technologies which help to limit negative effects on the environment by influencing human actions."

Be careful with that button, Prince Albert. It seems to me it's going to take off immediately...

Good on Prince Albert, now why hasn't our own environmentally minded Prince ordered one of his own? Come on Charles, trade in the Aston-Martin

The last time I saw him (September 2007), he was driving a Lexus LS 600hL... And I liked him much more in that car...

the only reason why this personalities buy a hydrogen or such another exotic powered vehicle like this crappy prius is, that they can polish up their reputation. i rather would prefer an aston. in this way, prince charles is a man with style.

there are a lot of another possibilities to save the environment. californians for example ? and i mean not only the famous actors ? would better install solar panels on the roofs of their mansions than buy such senseless vehicles like the hydrogen 7.

the production of a tankful hydrogen needs more energy than a trip for two persons in a ferrari from modena to paris. think about...

BMW is one more step ahead of other brands. Now more and more officials prefer it as well.
