Caught here whilst undergoing testing, here are the best shots yet of the Cadillac CTS Coupe and from the looks of things, the transformation from concept to production will be minimal with many styling elements retained from the concept unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show back in January.

The front fascia appears to have been toned down and styled more closely to the CTS Sedan, the B pillar is now clearly visible as opposed to the window to window style used on the concept, however judging by the fact the door handles are missing, one feature that looks set to make it to production are the touch pad opening mechanism door handles we have seen previously on the Corvette.

The rear styling looks largely unchanged through the heavy camouflage, but check out the huge central-mounted twin exhausts, they look even bigger than those found on the concept - this beast could pack some serious punch. An additional feature we should see on the coupe is a rear view camera which is not available on the sedan.

Sources speculate the CTS Coupe will in fact be named the CTC when it reaches production in May 2009, it will be built alongside the CTS sedan at the Lansing Grand River Plant and released as a 2010 model.

Is it going to be competing with the jag xk series?

More like a 3 series competitor Joe_. And it looks pretty good. Hope the 3.6 gets a touch more power to make it special. Or, a CTC-V?

Not a bad looking car. The front end looks great on the concept. The rear end has some issues though, looks a bit pinched. If the rear lights were spread apart further I think it would look better. I bet a v model will come along to compete with the M3 and other competing models (Lexus ISF coming out soon too).

Not bad but still won't be up to European standards- it's up against too much talent, probably wont sell any better here than Cadillac does now- ie. less than enough to fill a primary school playground

08 CTS has seen a 63% increase in first quarter profit... speak what you know, not what you think.

Yea really. That statement proves you know nothing about the CTS.

I was talking about the UK where 'Cadillac sales over the last two years have totalled ?around 400?, according to new UK boss Jon Nash' (quote from Autocar)

haha Really? I'd have thought with the advent of the CTS, they'd have picked up those figures a bit. *shrugs* People on here take things quite personally.

Thats sad to hear, because the car really is stellar. Truly, (if you like the design) it is better than a new C-class, and its 9/10s of a 3 series. Nothing (in its class) drives like a 335, but the CTS is finally a legit competitor in every way.

personally I think this car is overrated (just having read a magazine car on how this is supposed to be one of the most beautiful American cars ever to be made). The front is fine, but the rear end is way too huge and makes you wonder how this thing will have trunk space. The car looks like a hatchback, not a coupe with the thick b pillar. The design is convoluted with all these angles and lines. Yes a huge improvement on GM's part, but not quite up there yet. The sedan is much more aesthetically pleasing for me.

The interior of the new CTS is miles ahead of its rival products, it must be said. But the appeal of the CTS's exterior aesthetic qualities is... up to the individual. I for one detest those stupid chrome vents on its wings and its cheap-looking full-chrome fascia, and the charm of its folded-paper design language lasted two years at best. Moreover, this new CTS design makes it look like it is FWD. It may be a fantastic car mechanically, but aesthetically, it is repulsive. Lobing off two doors doesn't help the matter -- but that's my own opinion, and not likely to change by arguing the matter.
