Another Chinese Clone?

Ahead of a planned debut at Auto China later this month Chinese manufacturer Dongnan have released a few teaser sketches of a new concept they plan to show. Previously Dongnan have been collaborating with Chrysler and Mitsubishi on manufacturing, but now they are looking to go it alone.

It is well known that the Chinese manufacturers base many of their designs on european models (see here & here), and we are sure you are readying your fingers on the comments section ready to voice your disapproval of yet another copy so let WCF save you the trouble. Last year Seat announced new C/D segment models along with a couple of sketches and judging by the similarities it appears they are trying to beat Seat to the punch by quickly releasing their own concept, see the image below.

it rather resembles me the new Citroen C5 from the rear, and a mix of a Subaru Legacy and an Opel Astra from the front.

its obviously a copy of the opel/vauxhall insignia, from the shape of the headlight to the indicator light inside from the pics released a month ago, the shape of the grill is the very similar including the shape of the crome trim to the badge in the middle. At the rear i agree it is very c5. the chineese really do need to find there own design language, but remeber it took japan a long time to crack it as well.

I see Vauxhall/Opel Antara head-lamps and a tweaked Citroen C5 sedan.

To me, the front end seems to scream VW with the resessed V shaped grill and the headlights look like they're straight from the Eos. I also see the elements of Opel Insignia with strong Citroen and Mitsubishi influence at the rear.

It's not overly hard to create a new design for a car! Hyundai/Kia started out reskinning existing Mitsubishi-based mechanicals and from that have become a top 10 automaker, even India's TATA Motors are ahead by having unique designs (especially evident with the Nano and their concept cars)

Come on China, lift your game!

Frankly they both look euro-generic. Can't SOMEONE come up with something more interesting?
