Voisin Concept, A Supercar With Portuguese Design

Voisin Concept

A diesel engine would power it

Voisin was a French automaker founded by a aviation pioneer, Gabriel Voisin, who produced cars with airplane technology, such as Knight-type sleeve valve engines, from 1919 to 1939. Sadly it never came to life again, as Bugatti managed to do, but maybe the owners of the brand decide to change this when they see the beautiful Voisin Concept, created by a Portuguese design center, LusoMotors.

The main designer and founder of LusoMotors, Ernesto Freitas, told CarBodyDesign.com that, since he always loved French classic cars, he decided to recreate one of the most important ones. Voisin cars were the only ones that could rival a Bugatti at those times, hence the idea to create a supercar to face the Veyron.

Although the Voisin has a mean appearance, it would not beat the Bugatti on the track due to the engine it was conceived to use, a V12 TDI Audi engine, powerful, but not able to beat the 1001 hp the W16 used by the Veyron produces. Anyway, if the Voisin owners decided to revive their car brand, the machine created by Freitas would be a really good candidate for the debut.

oh no, another boring sportscar shape to disgrace a legendary brand. it cannot be that difficult to design a really beautiful car that every man on this world want to own ? or is it?

I wouldn't say legendary... more like a footnote in the story of automobiles.

The rear end it's even more beautiful than the Veyron one. That's not boring at all! And that's also a very clever engine choice. Not a rival for Veyron, sure, but I bet this would sell good anyway.

It is not enough to make an appealing design; this is nothing more impressive than an image with a caption reading "French" (And "Portuguese" but I think that is less the point). For this to capture imaginations, there must be something definitively French about its design, otherwise it is just another boring illustration. After all, anyone can draw a car.

diesel is more expensive but will get you much further, so it works out that the cost per mile is lower.

the engine may be amazing but the design is so boring! the air dam copy carreraGT, the windshield, rear end, overfender, side miror is using a bugatti design... this car loose its character....

_M7_"another expensive tractor XD" ????

tractor because it utilizes a diesel engine??? Have you ever experienced the power of the the Audi 3.0TDI engine? Have you heard the sound of the engine??? It sounds fantastic. Just imagine what a V12 TDI would sound like! Stop speaking from your ass dude.

Come on, the Audi 3.0 TDi engine sounds like a muted, slow revving V6 from the inside of the car, but from the outside it?s the same boring tractor like clatter as every other diesel engine. As for the diesel V12, just listen to the Audi R10 or Peugeot 908 HDi FAP. They sound like, well, nothing really. What comes to the concept, it lacks the spirit of the original Voisins and appears to be just a familiar name attached to another supercar concept. A bit like the Hispano Suiza supercar from a few years back.

I think this car is a cross between the Buggati Veyron and the Chrysler ME12. Anyone thinks the same?

yes I agree, a V12 TDI and V8 TDI would be great in that car! And car is beautiful

the car looks boring from every angle, except the rear. although the idea of a tdi super car does appeal to me.
