The rendered Volkswagen pickup shown here, is the Taro, or at least that’s what we reckon VW will name it. Taro you’ll remember was one of those success stories that never happened for VW as a joint venture between it and Toyota. This time VW is going it alone, aiming to produce it at its plants in South Africa, Argentina and Germany for the various world markets. The new Porsche, owners of VW, are keen to further expand the mass-product company’s earthly footprint as product differentiation keeps to schedule.

A number of derivatives and engines – petrol and diesel – for this will come to the fore, including 4x4 options, double-cab, and club-cabs. For VW to take Toyota head-on they need a vehicle of this sort. Toyota’s Hilux is constantly one of the highest selling vehicles in almost every market in which it competes. But perhaps VW is looking slightly further upfield, at a vehicle like the Nissan Navara for competition.

Navara looks much more better. To beat Nissan they'll need something better than a passat looking truck...

firstly Nissan were aware of the problems before the NCAP result and alerted its owners as well as rectifying the problems. secondly the re tested version is actually (overall) the safest pickup now, all though granted these vehicles have a very long way to go boast about their results.

So how can you rectify a slight problem when the wheel comes into the footwell lol .

Still wouldnt buy anything that rusts from inside out and your local pikey rides about in.-

good to see that Mr. Stehrenberger is still in the thick of automobile rendering things . before the advent of the artifically - intelligent computer visualizations , this gentleman is king . his excellent illustrations featured on Road and Track , Auto Motor Und Sport , Auto Bild , et cetera. a fine artist blessed with a keen artistic eye allied to virtuoso watercolor, felt tip marker rendered car graphics which could hold its own vis-a-vis CGIs.
