I guess it's 2,00,000 rupees, or US$ 5,000 (twice as expensive as the Tata Nano).

I'm sure the BMW was misquoted, but lets not forget, BMW's and Mercs are ridiculously expensive in India when compared to US prices. A 3 series costs around 3 million rupees, which is approx $70,000. Ah, and its not a 335i. Its the 325d or the 320d.

The 2million price quoted in the Indian press reflected Mini's expected price. Someone has confused the premium small car Mini with the thought that BMW will develop a new ultra lux micro car. The Mini price in India including import duties and local taxes would cost approximately 2million so thats more like it....

2million rupees??? :O thats 20,00,000rupees [Indian way of counting] 20 lakhs?? holy lord!! :O i'd rather buy a VW Passat or Honda Accord or a Toyota Camry.. :P I think BMW should just back out of this!! and NaBUru38, thats 20 times wat the Nano is going to cost!!!

This car has Dinosaur DNA written all over it. Is BMW playing the titanic or what?

A rear-engined microcar in the style of the Smart was developed by Rover under BMW control during the nineties. The two versions were called Mini Spiritual and Spiritual Too (look them up on Google) and were candidates to take up the Mini badge but considered too ahead of their time - although arguably closer in spirit to the Issigonis Mini. I wonder whether BMW have dusted of the designs of these...?

Well look at SMART cars that are doing pretty great sales wise even with their high price tag. I think bmw could pull off a luxury micro car. There is a market for it especially in europe or china, even japan where room on the roads and parking is the main problem, even if you can afford large amounts of gasoline and dont care about economy, if you can't find a parking spot or merge into traffic because in order to have leather and all the comforts you have to drive a boat of a car all the money in the world isnt going to make all the other cars dissapear off the road and give you parking space.
