Iconic GTR Revealed Boasting more than 800hp
Iconic GTR / Iconic Motors

Jewelery-like detail

Iconic, the all-American exclusive super car maker, implies it has gone to the future and seen what a proper sports car should look, drive, and feel like. The company is as concerned about its GTR’s catwalk looks as it is about its bravado in the engine department.

The latter department offers, through its 6.9-litre aluminium V8, a whopping 800 bhp/ 597kW at least, in a car pounding the scales at a mere estimated 2,200 pounds/ 998kg curb weight. According to our estimates, such stats give a 0 - 62 mph sprint of under 2 seconds! Iconic says over 200 mph is possible down a quiet freeway some place like the Pacific, outback, karoo or autobahn. Sounds manic? You betcha! And we like. Very much we do!

Such is the attention to detail Iconic has put into the GTR that dashboard finishings like switches are said to be of jewellery-like finesse. The bling you see in these interior pics is stainless steel, not some lowly brushed aluminium made at a backyard factory.

We aren’t too sure what will become of the GTR, if it is indeed to be made, since 18 of its patent applications are pending in the US of A. But the mere idea of this thing, the dream alone puts anticipatory smiles on our faces. Production is to be limited to 100, and therefore pricing will probably be just as picky.

Oh come on, 2 seconds? No way. Physically.

I agree... with no down force, your tires would need a coefficient of friction greater then 1... which is possible, but your tires wouldn't burn out, they would hop instead.

under 2 secounds? hmm... just try it. But who is so sensitive to take the clutch?

It's a Cobra, with a bigger engine, a body kit, and a revised interior...the future of the proper sports car is based on a car built in the 60's?? Although, it does sound like good fun.

Sure is uglier than the cobra, more expensive too. Thx but no thx, i'll take a cobra kit car with a High comp. 427 any day over this.

not to mention the reliability... plus it's ugly like a chinese free toy or a gross caricature of the cobra

Who told you people that its not possible to hit 60 in 2 seconds.. go to youtube and you'll find a video for fifthgear program using a car that run to 60 in 1 second.. Practically.

all it is is a cobra on crack i like it and 800hp on a body that size, under 2 seconds is definitely possible and there is a little downforce look closely youll see some spoilers on the bumpers and by the way don't even try to argue with the case of the 1000hp veyron--it ways 4000+ lbs 800hp on 2200lbs certainly sounds like sub-2second i'm sure they took care of the tires somebody building such a car wouldn't be so careless as such

also, its so low to the ground that so much downforce isnt even needed

Nitrous..... You would not happen to be refering to a funny car, or a drag car are you? Because this what comes to mind whenever I hear those figures.

not very original. future? iconic? or just retro? 2 seconds would be nice, but i could not see it probable on the tires shown and without 4 wheel drive. I think the writer is simply running the numbers- weight to power ratios and what not.

What is the interest to put 2 handbrakes in such a car ?

Talk about physics and estimate things if you are engeneer or know somthing... a funy car do more than that and all say its imposible. But whit a car like that you CAN`T its american...you can change it.

I actually know Claudio(the founder of Iconic Motors) This car is not a cobra replica, it's modern homage to one of the greatest cars ever designed, and is being built only after getting the consent and blessing of Carol Shelby. The claims may seem grandiose, but I've seen the dyno data sheets and the light weight GTR's V8 does in fact put out 800+ HP. The man behind the GTR is passionate perfectionist (you'ld have to be to spend what he did on some thing pedestrian as the shifter assembly {witch I've held the prototype of and can honestly say is an engineering marvel, and cool as hell}).. As kid rock said it, it ain't bragging if you back it up.. So hold your comments till you've it at an autoshow or at least read a test drive review in a mag. ps.. I don't know about 0-60 in 2 sec. but it will break 4
