Half of the Touareg sales in the UK go to the current flagship model with the V10 TDI. I'd like to see how successful this would be in the UK taking on the likes of the popular Nissan Navara, Mitsubishi L200, Toyota Hilux and Isuzu Rodeo. A cheaper alternative to the Touareg is a great idea for those who can't afford the Touareg but need something just as big but only cheaper!

I hope they measure my Navara as the benchmark for this segment. If it meets the Navara for Power, Driveability and Load carrying, I will buy one. Ysbeer

This will be an interesting automobile! I can't wait to see it. I think if they do some clever marketing it can be really successful. But am I correct to assume that it doesn't come with the AK-47 toting freedom fighter like the Toyota? Maybe it can be an option. . .

If there is even a hint of speculation that this may work it's way to the U.S. then they better leave the option for a huge TDI power-plant wide open, Because regular fuel prices are very costly.

In this context, "el campo" means "the countryside".

I hope that VW is viewing the Navara as the bench mark, especially my 128kw Diesel. There is no better pick up in it's class. Here in South Africa we call pick up's Bakkies.
