Still over a year away, the next generation Mercedes-Benz E-Class, code-named W212 is expected to make its debut in a year and a half at the Frankfurt Motor Show. First seen with less camouflage over one week ago, here are the latest photos taken close to Mercedes’ headquarters in Stuttgart but this prototype is sporting different wheels and a standard roof as opposed to the panoramic roof spotted on the first prototype.
The next E-Class will offer the typical wide range of engines in Europe starting with a 4 cylinder petrol engine with 184 hp up to an 544 hp V8. Gaining more importance than ever, the diesels range of engines starts with a 136 hp 4 cylinder up to a 354 hp V8. Unfortunately, consumers interested in a hybrid version will have to wait a year later as the E-Class is expected to be released with a diesel hybrid engine like the current E 300 BLUETEC hybrid which makes 224 hp from a 3.0 litre V6 and a 15kW electric engine with an integrated start generator.
