It probably isn't, but I would like to believe this increased European price is a slap in the face for German fan boys... after all they are the ones saying Porsche and Benz are worth double the money.

I would say it is because of EU, actually everything that sell in the Europe is expensive than anywhere else. Taxes and stuff lower the manufacturers' profit, so what they can do is rise up the price.
