Breaking: Hot Rod Legend Boyd Coddington Dies at 63
Boyd Coddington

Our sympathies to the family

If there is any old car in heaven, now angels will be able to give it the best hot rod treatment ever. Boyd Coddington, a legend in hot rod building, passed away yesterday, at 6h20 am (local time), aged 63. The cause of death has not been disclosed so far. Coddington had been hospitalised twice recently. Reason for this are also not known, but, according to Jalopnik.com, Coddington’s company will soon release an official statement about the founder’s death.

Boyd Leon Coddington was born in August 28, 1944 in Rupert, Idaho, and was worldwide known for the TV series American Hot Rod. He got his first car, a 1931 Chevrolet truck, when he was 13. In 1966, he moved to California, where he has established as one of the most important hot rod builders in history. Chip Foose has worked with him and certainly has learnt a lot with the hot rods’ master.

Boyd was married with Jo Coddington. To his family, we would like to express our deepest sympathies. And to say we will miss his creations a lot. Rest in peace, Boyd.
