and the race is on, one of the 6 ccxr's will probably push into the worlds fastest realm, let's see if the ssc really is faster then the speed they set.

it wont beat the veyron .. i have always had a soft spot for koenigsegg.. even though i could spell the damn name

I think it will beat the veyron, it has a lower coefficient of drag, less weight and more power, the formula all makes sense. As a car the veyron is better, will last longer and be more reliable, but this is just sheer insanity. Next thing to the Pagani Zonda. Lets see the Zonda R which will hopefully come out this year sometime, hopefully geneva :)

The trend is, the more expensive a car is, the less likely the owner is to fully appreciate it. However, I think when there are only 6 examples of it in the world and they begin at EUR1.33 million, it is virtually guaranteed the owner has some significant appreciation for the machine. Any thoughts?

Let's not forget that the Veyron does NOT hold the record anymore. It's a humble, shy apparatus called "SSC Ultimate Aero," which topped the Veyron at 257 mph (413km/h) just six months ago, and it wasn't because it didn't take anymore but because it ran out of track. And the thing makes like 1200 hp. I like this Koeinsegg a lot, though. Out of these three (Aero, Veyron, CCX) is by far the prettiest one.

The SSC does not count because it is not a production car yet, they need to make 50 units. Otherwise the Dauer 962 would be king as a street legal car. The Veyron is to date the fastest Production road legal vehicle. Also the SSC did it on a remote stretch of HWY in the states, i'm pretty sure it has to be on a recognized track and the same track that the McLaren, Koenigsegg, Veyron set their record on like Nardo to count as a world record.

heres a sweet fact any car company can make a car that can go faster than the veyron. however... can they build it to be reliable so it can BE fast over and over again? the veyron can do that its top speed over and over again for at least 10 years or more... that SSC aero(which is pretty awesome nontheless) will break down after 2-4 high speed runs guarenteed... it has nowhere near as much technology as the veyron. for gods sake.. the tires on the veyron probably has more technology packed into it than the SSC aero itself lol ohhh and the agreements and the disagreements continue with the SSC and the veyron... **yawn**

Veyron is reliable? I know its expensive, but I wouldn't think that necessarily means its reliable. Just my thoughts... but an engine based off a Chevy or Ford v8 (ssc and ccx respectively) sounds like it would be a lot more reliable then a w16 engine with 4 turbochargers and 10 radiators. Between all the extra moving parts, the lack of testing behind the engine, and the lack of replacement parts the w16 engine sounds like a horrible choice for an engine.

No testing? The veyron has been in the making ever since VW bought Bugatti, that's a lot of years. Also you have to remember 1 thing Bugatti offers a very decent warranty, on the SSC if i am not mistaken it is 30,000km power train and that's it. Another thing is the Veyron runs low boost and because it is such a big engine there is less stress per cylinder to create that 1000hp, the SSC probably runs well over 20psi to squeeze 1200hp out of that engine, means more heat and more stress on internal components. Like car crazy said anyone can build a record breaker there are 1200hp 2L civics that get rebuilt after 4 drag races, for reliability id go with the Veyron over the CCX and SSC, there was a normal Koenigsegg in the gumball run a few years ago and it broke down so many times the guy had a repair crew following him the entire time.

I'd just like to know where carcrazy got his facts about being able to top speed run the Veyron for ten years. Never heard of that one. Also, how do you know that the Aero would break down after two to four runs? That's pretty much all speculation.

exactly as radmeister said - the SSC isnt even a production car so why is there so much hype about it - or even more - why the arguments about teh SSC being better than teh veyron? im sure the SSC will be faster as a production, fully road going version, but the veyron is so many light years ahead in every other aspect - including acceleration to 100km/h. also reliability issues will obviously be a problem when there is so much strain on the engine and when the car has not been through no where near as much testing as the veyron - that should have been an obvious assumption puddingpuppet. he wasnt saying everything literally.

so in reply to your comment andres2007, it still DOES hold the record for a fully road legal production car.

I think it looks good, and 259mph, wow! I think they praised him spinning that car. Better that than some rich guys widow suing them and jeopardizing this unique company. The wing looks a bigger than the TG one, possibly a bit more functional? ;)
