Unseen interior shots

The Porsche Panamera must be the most photographed prototype car on this planet. The silhouette is a familiar sight now in picture if not yet on our roads. These new shots give us our first glimpse into Porsche’s new uber saloon and the interior door panels seem almost production ready. Porsche has never been one to rush these things though usually making sure everything has been thoroughly tested and applying the laws of evolution rather than revolution, so don’t expect this machine to debut before 2009. One thing that is clear is that it will come with a relatively practical hatchback rear compartment where most of its rivals offer the more traditional boot. I say practical in the most loose of terms however, as that rear bumper moulding will cost a fortune to replace with all those scratches from the golf clubs.

The rear doors look a reasonable size but tall six footers, such as German Engineers, may find themselves banging their heads from time to time.

Speaking of rivals, the Panamera has its sights firmly on the premium end of the luxury car division so think Aston Martin Rapide, Maserati Quattroporte and top level Jags, Mercs and BMW’s. Being a Porsche, this thing will have to have a certain level of performance so expect naturally aspirated and twin turbocharged versions of the Cayenne’s 4.8L V8 producing roughly 400hp and 500+hp respectively. A 300hp V6 version is rumoured as is a more interesting hybrid model but these may arrive after the initial launch.

These shots have been taken reasonably close up and are quite detailed. One thing is for sure, the styling may well prove just as controversial as the Cayenne’s when it was released.

911-E for Eggplant... sad outcome for such an awesome machine. We all know it will drive superbly, but I would not want to be seen in such a sack of a car, who drew this thing anyway?. :o(

Is this car suppose to look good? The Cayenne was a bad idea, now this. This competiting with AM Rapide is a joke.

Are you serious? The Cayenne a bad idea? They sell really well considering the price and size of it. And the rapide against this is a joke yes. This will beat the rapid at everything, Astons have never been reliable or a driver's car and that's exactly what this category is for, a daily driver for the upper class population. The Aston will break down every week and guzzle 2x more fuel than this. The problem is we have seen a production Rapide and this still has camo body panels and lights, lets wait and see. Aston has better looks, but i don't think that will be enough to beat out the porsche, performance wise on the track and in the dealers.

okay but still i think the rapid is better cuz its gona go fast!! and the way aston is doing things it will handle good too.. plus have u seen the AM its beautiful.. but then again the middle age rich snobs will always go for Porsches idk y..if i had any class i would def buy the rapid

Yes I am serious, and I cant believe someone would choose this over AM. I know Porsche has a good reputation, handling and quality, but that doesn't mean they can get away with what they can come up with. Would you say this is their best work? If they were to submit their best design for awards, I dont think they will submit this one. And the reason why Cayenne sells well is because it is a Porsche.

Looks stunning! Anybody does remember Bertone's idea of Hi-performence Posche sedan from 1994 called Karizma with gullwing twindoor? Despite of spiritual concept grown by Bertone Panameras sporty-elegant shape does more remind me on Bugatti EB 112, another diamond show in early 90's.

By the way, the majority of the people who buy these cars don't ever take them to the track. It's used for daily transportation. Also bought for trophy wives.

This car is incredibly ugly...

Ok. Anyone noticed the different tailpipes and rims on both (blue and green at the back) to the ones in the front (closer to camera) green? Might be nothing at all (I know they usually slap pieces of any other model they produce) but... it's quite suspicious that the same model of rims match the same type of tailpipes

Too true!!! Maybe it will include a map to get off 'WTF' island. LOL!

With the way the Panamera presently looks, it even makes the Cayenne look good! Never mind the Rapide, the Merc CLS looks a million times better.

Looks like Porsche is having a hard time incorporating their famous characteristic rear end into this car. The Cayenne was good looking but I don't know if they'll be able to do it again with this car.

The car looks like an eye ... of some sort !! why don't porsche come back to the orginal idea of a sports car classic 993 shape .. rather making cars which look ugly .. starting to look like VW
