A decreasing market owned by the Mondeo - even Nissan abandoned it. This had better be good and I hope it is for Toyota's UK plant.

I hope this car turns out to be more exciting than the current Avensis in terms of the design, it does look fairly outdated compared to the Mazda 6. I agree, the Mondeo has been a huge success but the rendering, which should give you a good idea of how the new Avensis will look, seems very promising.

The rendering is way cooler than any Toyota we get in the US. We don't even get a proper Estate, we get the reworked and overstyled Matriz... all with drum brakes at the rear as standard kit. :o| Again, EU gets the better style, even if it is a bit dated compared to some.

The three-box sedan is a fast dying breed in Europe.

The sedan in the pictures is miles ahead of anything Toyota currently offers in the U.S. from a design perspective. All the sedans in Toyota's U.S. lineup have a bland, appliance-like appearance. This car looks svelte and sporty. I would love to see this car offered in the U.S. It would probably be the first Toyota product that I would consider buying. The major problem for Toyota would be where to position this car in its lineup. I would maybe use this car to reinvent the Scion brand in the U.S. The xD (which is hideous, sells poorly, and has received terrible reviews) needs to be moved to the Toyota division or totally discontinued in the U.S. The xB could be moved to the Toyota division since most of the ones I see on the road are piloted by people who are far beyond Scion's target demographic in age. The tC (which shares this car's platform) just needs a great redesign to continue its successful performance. I would use a redesigned tC and the sedan pictured above to launch a new and improved version of the Scion brand. Add a sporty crossover and a production version of the A-BAT concept truck (maybe both built on the tC/Avensis platform) to complete the lineup. One platform plus four new cool vehicles equals a revitalized Scion.
