New Lancia Delta Will Debut On Second Life
Lancia has decided to launch its new Delta model in Second life, the virtual world where individuals interact as animated characters based on themselves (known as avatars). The launch will take place the day before the model is unveiled at the 2008 Geneva Motorshow.
Lancia has established itself in Second Life by creating a virtual village known as the Lancia Village, which consists of 5 digital buildings and 4 cars.
Although the hype around Second Life and other virtual worlds has died down since a height in media attention in 2007, companies like Nissan, Mercedes-Benz and BMW still see them as great marketing opportunities, with companies like Toyota finding it particularly useful in reaching a younger customer base.
