one minute Lutz is calling global warming a crock of s***, the next minute they're trying to woo environmentally concerned Hollywood- GM's PR department is either ambitious or in meltdown!

That was just Bob Lutz's opinion. That doesn't mean that GM as a whole holds the same view.

Lutz is an idiot, anything associated with environmentally friendly means future because that is the way the automobile industry is heading, to say it is a crock of $hit sends out the message that you are unwilling to move with the times and improve. Something GM shareholders have been hoping for a long time will happen, moving forward with times. Lutz's move was idiotic, he should have been pro environment because that would have signaled moving forward.

Lutz is a problem for GM then and should quietly be retired- he is confusing their corporate message

why do they even bother with hybrid SUV's??? especially an SUV of this size... seriously just drop this car and all other sh*t cars and start over with a new lineup thats lighter, efficient, safe, annd... EFFICIENT!!! damn i hate GM or whoever makes these horrible ideas lol

Your a moron. GM Full size SUVs are a great seller for GM so why in the hell would they get rid of it. At least they are making them more efficient. Toyota doesn't even make a hybrid Sequoia but i don't see you on there nuts. GM has plenty of hybrid cars and they are only increasing that number. You have to understand the American market. People don't want a Prius SUV. They want a powerful SUV with good gas mileage. How can you not appreciate GM for making that most fuel efficient Large SUVs. GM just can win with some people its quite ridiculous.

k... dude, you clearly don't care about the world you live in lol esecially when u support pointless SUV's which people usually buy just for city cruising. (the majority. i agree with FOXHOUND below me... seriously why should we pay 50,000-53,000 dollars for a GMC yukon hybrid when there is barely any improvement at all?? 20 city 20 highway with 4WD... good job GM for making a big honking SUV drive for another 5-6 more miles (and i'm not just picking on gm actually even though i didnt mention it above in my first comment... all car makers are the same... they're looking for profits, not making the environment better) but the fact is... japanese makes and even european makes are lighter and more efficient (japanese being the lightest). u might have comfort, and 5 star front crash test ratings, but japanese/euro cars also have that with better mileage

Wat so many people that are making the argument u are don't understand is that the American car companies came from an entirely different culture than that of anything in the tiny counties of Europe and Japan. People in America typically spend more time in their cars than the rest of the world so most people go for the big cars or big SUVs. And the relativity cheap gas prices here in America compared to the rest of the world there hasn't been as much of a big demand for fuel efficiency that the Japanese and European auto makers have had. Why should people be able to buy what they want with there hard earned money. I feel that big SUVs should not be done away with but instead they should be made much more efficient. Wat kind of ridiculous life is it to just live with what you need and don;t enjoy what you could have. With that i would just like to say again that they do need to be made more fuel efficient. What I don't think you understand is that this is progress. So the gas mileage wasnt increased by a massive amount. What did u expect it to get the gas mileage of a prius . Its a big ass SUV and gets better gas mileage than anything else in its class and it will get better as the years go on. So why don't you appreciate the effort being put forth here. The technology is developing quickly so it will improve more and more as time goes on. Even when Americas true to do things right according to your standards (which i for one don't even care for) you Europeans or where ever your from have nothing good to say. give me a break this sh*t takes time to develop and its getting there so how but u cut them a little slack and understand this these fuel efficiency thing is much newer to Americans than it is to Europe and Japan. Like I said before there completely different car cultures.

lol nice you do realize that we live in one big world right??? that's dieing everyday because of CARS in general??? these cars just make it worst... even though their making an effort to try and cut down on fuel use, they really haven't. I'm a huge car fan... i love cars and i wish gas wasn't the biggest issue in this world, but seriously man, your gonna have to deal with it. Big suv's have no purpose especially on normal roads. and you said something about "Wat kind of ridiculous life is it to just live with what you need and don;t enjoy what you could have.". well yea... it IS a ridiculous life. we're gonna have to live with what u need and not with what you can have, especially when we're talking about the world bud. i'm done here.

Look dude I said that they need to be working to make them even more efficient. I said that this was the first step of many to be taken. And I do know that we live in one big world, what I was saying was American car companies have been making cars they way the do for decades and that is a lot different from the way the Japanese and Europeans have ever built their cars. You cant expect them to just start build cars for Americans the way that you all build cars for for however long. And the changes in gas mileage between Japanese/European car and modern American cars are not that drastic anyway. I'm talking about cars not SUVs and trucks cause you all don't make them.

i will respect GM SUV hybrids when they can deliver at least 35mpg or more, what is the point of putting new hybrid technology in an suv if you can only get marginal fuel improvement, i mean 22mpg highway? please.... i agree with carcrazy1234 if GM wants a hybrid SUV they should start from scratch and engineer a new vehicle that can provide the same room and comfort, but that designed specificly for the hybrid powertrain, because if the suburban/yukon/escalade line-up has tuaght us one thing, its that they are terribly inneficient in almost all aspects.

Some of you seem to be under the mistaken impression GM -- or any other manufacturer for that matter -- gives a crap about the environment. If that were true, logic will expose hybrids as the proverbial carcinogen relabeled homeopathic medication that it is. (Hybrids are worse for the environment than conventional automobiles, but I will not get into that.) The only thing GM gives a care about is meeting their fleet fuel economy standards for 2020. That's why they push flexi-fuels; that's why the invest in hybrids.
