New A4 has added S Line to its moniker in the United Kingdom. S Line, available in all A4 models, takes the SE model spec to the next level. SE has apparently, been the sporting kit choice of the British for a very long time. S Line gives the cars an understated aggression by for example, the following changes: suspension rides 30mm lower than in the standard car, it has extended body side skirts, takes 18-inch 5-spoke wheels, sports a multi-function steering wheel and sporty brushed aluminium inlays.

At the same time, Audi UK has added a new 1.8TFSI engine to the A4 lineup, a completely new engine to the old workhorse that was found in just about every VW Group product of old. This 1.8 TFSI makes a heady 120 bhp/ 89kW. Therefore its 0 – 100km/h time comes to 10.5 seconds, with a top speed of 130 mph/ 209km/h and average fuel consumption figure of 39.8 mpg.

Audi’s CVT solution, the Multitronic gearbox makes its debut in the new A4 as well where it’s mated to a more powerful version of the 1.8TFSI (here we go again) that produces 160 bhp/ 119kW. A combined figure of 37.2 mpg is achievable for this unit. OTR pricing for the new engine starts at £19,890/ €26,757 and S Line starts at £23,490 /€31,596.

Love it, white is the new silver. 1.8TFSI only produces 89kW? Sounds abit underpowered to me.

I would have rather thought about the 1.4 TSi for such power...

Seeing that this car is new and Mercs C class is also new, which one is better in design? My take would be on Merc being the better coz their sports pack looks alot better and diffrent from the last one. Audi basically is still stroking a tired rug. It's time for them to go radical in design especially that staid boring look that fails to match their exciting grill.

It is the underpowered version of the 170bhp 1.8TFSI that is already available. If I am not mistaken it replaces the 1.6FSI engine. Although, in my opinion, the 170bhp 1.8TFSI IS underpowered.

wisp... u obviously own a merc? The merc looks like holden astra. Boring and no grace. Audi has the day running LED lights which gives it grace and PRESENCE.

the AUDI is much better than its rivals...bmw and merc..always has been and always will be...merc has just lost its touch of class...and everything seems 2 be plastic these days, and bmw fit more electrics into there cars than anything else which a few years down the line just causes nothing but hell! the build quality on the bmw is not 100% either..........AUDI does not suffer from any of these problems as there cars are always second to none!

Amen to that! The only people who drive mercs are those who dont know anything about cars but have the money and follow the old school trend. Things have changed now. Audi doesn't need to make things bold or radical, what for? You dont see Bang & Olusfen make bold and radical hi-fi and TVs.
