This article makes no sense. The Astra is a size up from the MINI - Corsa is MINI-sized. The sketch would not work if the car was a size up like a Golf, the dimenions are all wrong. And vertical B-pillars make it different from the Cooper? Does it mean C-pillars, as the sketch seems to show?

Well, most Americans think all the hatchbacks are the size/segment. Once again, there is A-Segment hatchbacks like the Ford Ka and Renault Modus... There's B-Segment hatchbacks like the new MINI and VW Polo... Finally, there's C-Segment hatchbacks like the new Saab 9-1 and VW Golf. Please, don't mix them up next time! Oh, it's the C-pillar looks like the new MINI, not the B-pillar. 'A B C' not 'A B B'!

I wonder does the author of this report know what does 'supermini' mean?! I mean how could he/she think this Saab 9-1(a family hatchback) is in the same market as MINI??? How could he/she even think this Saab 9-1 as a supermini??? If that's the case, tell me since when did Saab 93 compete with BMW 1-Series??? No, it hasn't! Saab 93 is in the same segment as BMW 3-Series. Saab 9-1 is a 'family hatchback', not a 'supermini'! So it should compete with BMW 1-Series, not the MINI!

lovice is right. whoever wrote this article has got their wires completely crossed. the saab 9-1 is a competitor for the bmw 1 series, audi a3, volvo c30 and the emerging premium hatchback segment. hence why it is based on the astra platform. i think the refernce to the mini is only supposed to be a stylistic one, in reference to the blacked out A pillars.

absolutely disgusting... c30 looks significantly better than this garbage. no matter what saab does to their cars its always gonna be somewhat outdated... "is this a 03 or 08 model?"

A red herring I'd guess? The 9-1 is based on the next Astra platform not the next Corsa platform. The car in drawing looks like a Suzuki Swift with a Saab 9-3 nose. The 9-1 is a replacement for the 9-2x, so expect Volvo C30 size at least!
